Josh Jacobs, the Green Bay Packers running back from Oklahoma, has recorded a rushing touchdown in all of his last eleven games. As the Packers prepare to face the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field on Sunday, Jacobs can ideally join an exclusive list of players who have recorded 12 straight games with a rushing TD. However, Jacobs was not aware of this momentous feat he could achieve.
The last time any player registered a rushing touchdown in 12 straight games was way back in 2004, when San Diego Chargers’ LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 12 consecutive games. The record is currently held by John Riggins, who had a touchdown in 15 straight games in 1983. Emmitt Smith has two streaks. In 1994-95, Smith had a streak of 13 games. In 1995, he had another one for 14 games. Earlier, George Rogers had a streak of 13 games in 1985-86.
After Thursday’s practice, Jacobs admitted that he came to know about the fact that he was so close to a remarkable feat in football history during a team meeting.
I actually just found out today. They just brought it up in the meeting today. I don’t really know too much about it.

Jacobs, who came from a humble background, admitted that while joining the annals of Tomlinson would be an honor, he is not a person who digs deep into records and feats. He added that he’s more concerned about securing wins and ensuring that they don’t lose.
However, Jacobs’ 10-game touchdown streak in regular-season play falls well short of Tomlinson’s 18-game run from Oct. 3, 2005, to Oct. 16, 2006. He ranks eighth on the list, trailing Tomlinson, Rogers, and Riggins (13 each), as well as Jonathan Taylor, Priest Holmes, and Smith, who appears twice, with 11 apiece.
Packers’ coaches heap praise on Josh Jacobs ahead of the Browns game
In his one season in Green Bay, Josh Jacobs has rejuvenated the Packers’ red zone capabilities. Last season, Green Bay ranked in the NFL’s top 10 in red-zone offense for the first time since leading the league in 2020. This hike in this particular category can be attributed to Jacobs’ 15 rushing touchdowns during a Pro Bowl campaign, the third-highest single-season total by a running back in franchise history.

Recognizing that impact, Ben Sirmans, the Packers running backs coach, showered praise on his star player ahead of their week three road game against the Cleveland Browns. Sirmans claimed that the opposition coordinators are wary of Jacobs and the potential damage he can cause.
Sirmans staunchly believes in a system where if an opposing team doesn’t prepare ahead for a selected player, the player is not respected by them. He added that it is crucial for players to earn the respect by being a challenge to opponents.
We’ve even had (opposing) coordinators that have said our mission is to stop Josh. It’s like I tell these guys all the time. If they’re not preparing for you, then they don’t respect you. If they don’t respect you, that means that they don’t respect your game and what you’re putting out there. That’s a good thing and it’s a challenge for you.

Jacobs was also praised by the Packers’ offensive coordinator, Adam Stenavich. Stenavich noted that the 27-year-old had a knack for creating plays and converting them.
The guy just creates plays. He’s just got a knack for finding the seam, getting in the end zone. It’s just a big confidence boost when you get down inside the 5-yard line, give him the ball a couple times and you got a touchdown.
Stenavich said of Jacobs
In addition to the coaches, the players also have a pretty good opinion about Josh Jacobs. Right guard Sean Rhyan admitted that the presence of Jacobs helps them, and he hoped to ensure that the running back gets to keep his streak on.
