In the recent episode of the Funky Friday podcast, host and former NFL quarterback Cam Newton was joined by a former FS1 analyst, Joy Taylor. Taylor, who was fired a few months ago from FS1 after a lawsuit, was her usual self with the bold and hard-hitting takes.

In a specific segment, Taylor touched upon relationships and dating. The former sportscaster noted that she isn’t interested in a public relationship, citing that it hasn’t worked out well for her in the past. Amid the conversation, Newton asked Taylor whether fans should shoot their shot following the episode launch.

In response, Taylor shared an anecdote that has drawn the headlines. She admitted to being messaged by blue-checkers, clarified as celebrities, and that too, not-so-nice DMs. Taylor put forth one such example, “Can I hit that,” while confessing that such a text won’t be sufficient for her.

Taylor also blasted the celebrities for their overconfidence and questioned how they have the trust to believe that she won’t be posting these online.

Joy Taylor, alongside fellow Fox Sports personality Skip Bayless, was named in a lawsuit alleging the creation of a toxic workplace at the network. The 42-page complaint, reviewed by Front Office Sports, was filed by former Fox Sports hairstylist Noushin Faraji, who worked at the company from 2012 until August 2024.

According to the filing, Faraji claims she was “forced to endure a misogynistic, racist, and ableist workplace where executives and talent were allowed to physically and verbally abuse workers with impunity.” The lawsuit sought class-action status on behalf of other employees who may have faced similar treatment. Taylor has since been fired from the network.

Joy Taylor hits out at former colleague Jason Whitlock in the podcast

In the podcast, Taylor also took a minute to publicly respond to remarks made by her ex-colleague, Jason Whitlock, following recent controversy surrounding both figures.

Whitlock, who previously worked alongside Taylor at the network, weighed in on her after she was named in the aforementioned lawsuit against FOX Sports. The comments were almost obvious to be a talking topic, especially considering Cam Newton defended Taylor during the time.

His comments in early January, particularly those directed at Taylor’s appearance and skin color, sparked a wave of memes across social media and reignited long-standing tensions between the two. Taylor has since parted ways with FOX Sports and is currently making appearances across various media platforms. Cam Newton’s Funky Friday is one among them.

In an unfiltered response, Taylor sharply criticized Whitlock’s appearance and weight, adding that he behaves as though he is “in witness protection.” She remarked that she’s surprised every time he thinks Whitlock is alive, something that was interpreted as tone-sensitive by the interpreter. Furthermore, she took a shot at his health levels.

Taylor also dismissed Whitlock’s earlier commentary, suggesting she had little interest in following it. Her remarks didn’t end there.

No, we don’t [love Jason]. Who loves Jason? Does God love Jason? I do not. I don’t love Jason. You say what you need to say, I do not. I don’t love everybody.

She went on to describe Whitlock as someone who “hides,” suggesting that he avoids public settings. Whitlock has hit back at Taylor following her comments and asked for people who care about her to stage an intervention. The fiery back-and-forth makes it clear that there is no reconciliation in sight between the two former colleagues.
