This past weekend Juan Soto was in action against his former club, the New York Yankees. This was his first appearance against the Yankees since joining their crosstown rivals, the New York Mets, on a mega $765 million deal. A top Yankees broadcaster recently made a bold claim regarding his move.

Soto spent the 2024 season with the Yankees before making a huge move in December. The 4-time MLB All-Star decided to join the Mets on a $765 million deal while deciding not to re-sign with the Yankees on a 16-year, $760 million deal.

During the Rivalry Week this past weekend, Soto made his first return to Yankee Stadium since signing that massive deal. The fans would loudly boo him and even turned their backs on him as he entered the field.

Soto’s return to the Bronx saw him go 1-for-10 in three games. On Monday, during The Michael Kay Show, broadcaster Michael Kay dropped a bold claim. Not only did he claim that Soto has been very “glum” in the Mets clubhouse, but he also expressed that the Yankees were his preferred choice.

I have talked to people that I respect. He wanted to return to the Yankees. That was his preference. His family said, ‘You are going to the Mets.’ His family felt very comfortable around Alex and Steve Cohen. And they said, ‘You are going to the Mets.

A few days after he signed with the Mets, there had been reports of some mistreatment of his parents by the Yankees’ management. Soto, though, did come into the defense of his former team and labeled them as a “1A” organization.

MLB insider claims Juan Soto’s actions have left NY Mets hierarchy concerned

After Michael Kay’s bold claim regarding Juan Soto went viral, another MLB insider dropped a huge bombshell regarding him. The insider claimed that Soto’s actions have left the NY Mets hierarchy concerned.

As per Bob Klapisch of NJ.com, Soto had initially agreed to speak to ESPN reporters before the game. However, he would soon change his mind and told a Mets official that he was tired of answering questions regarding Aaron Judge and the reason he choose the Mets instead of the Yankees.

The insider further added that Soto skipped the post-game conference. He first claimed that he would come back to talk after greeting his family but eventually did not return.

This is something, according to Klapisch, that is worrying the Mets management. As per him, Soto seemed more happy while interacting with Judge and his former manager Aaron Boone.

These are troubling signs for the Mets’ hierarchy. I’m told they’re concerned about Soto’s lack of enthusiasm for his new team.

This claims from the MLB insider has raised some eyebrows on social media. However, many have backed Soto during this saga.

Juan Soto backs himself following lack of hustle critics in recent games

In the past few games, Juan Soto has been criticized for his performance. The 4-time MLB All-Star has been criticized for showing a lack of ‘hustle’ during games. On Monday, he defended himself from this criticism.

In the final game against the New York Yankees and the first game against the Boston Red Sox, Soto was slow to jog from the batter’s box to the first base. This slow baserunning led to some questions being thrown at him.

While speaking with the reporters on Monday regarding his hustling, the Dominican international expressed that he has been working very hard.

I think I have been hustling very hard. If you saw it today, you could tell.

His form, though, has dropped a bit in recent games. After going 1-for-10 against the Yankees, he went 1-for-4 against the Red Sox on Monday night at Fenway Park. Along with him, his team has also dropped in form, with them winning just 1 out of their last 5 games.
