The biggest talking point in the ongoing offseason was the free agency saga of Juan Soto. After penning down a huge $765 million deal with the New York Mets, the 4-time All-Star recently claimed he had a better chance to win the World Series with the Mets than the New York Yankees. His former teammate Aaron Judge would disagree with it. Soto has now downplayed this dissent from him.
Soto and Judge formed a formidable duo for the Yankees in the 2024 season. They would combine to hit 99 home runs in the regular season and helped the team reach their first World Series in 15 years.
The Bronx Bombers were later blown away by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. A few days later Soto would become a free agent and after weeks of speculations, join the cross-town rivals of the Yankees, the NY Mets on a 15-year deal.
At the Spring Training press conference, Judge would claim that he (Soto) could say whatever he wants as it was his opinion. However, he disagreed with his comments. Soto has now used the Miami Marlins as his point while answering back at Judge.
What do you think Judge is going to say? If you ask the Marlins, the Marlins are going to tell you they have the best chance to win.

While the Yankees did fail in the World Series last year, they did claim the American League pennant title. As for the Mets, their last pennant title came in 2015 when they defeated the Chicago Cubs. They then went on to lose against the Kansas City Royals in the Fall Classic. With Juan Soto now in the team, the pressure to deliver a championship title is right there on the shoulders of the team.
Pete Alonso was in disbelief regarding Juan Soto’s deal
Juan Soto shocked the sporting world when he penned down the $765 million deal with the New York Mets. It shattered several records and became the biggest contract ever offered in the history of professional sports. Pete Alonso was seemingly in a state of disbelief after this deal.

This deal was announced at a time when Alonso himself was a free agent. In an interview at the ‘Meet on the Apple’ podcast during the Mets Spring training, the first baseman claimed he was unable to wrap his head regarding this mega deal of Soto.
I’m just so used to playing against him; it was like, “Wow! I have the potential to be on the same team. For me, I couldn’t wrap my mind around it at first… He’s such a fantastic player. He’s a phenomenal player. I’m so happy he’s with us.
