Juan Soto’s free agency rumors have sparked some wild theory on the New York Mets offering $660 million for a 12-year deal. The rumor caused controversy among reporters on social media gaining a spotlight on X.

MLB insider Dan Clark commented on how the NY Mets have offered “Juna Soto” a massive 12-year deal, as per Jon Heyman. However, Heyman clarified the rumors, claiming them to be false.

He noted that he never said anything about an amount offered by the Mets regarding Juan Soto’s free agency. He further blasted Clark for making such bold assumptions amid the 2024 free agency race.

I did NOT say this. This is apparently an attempt at humor by a guy I blocked long ago for consistently made-up rumors (not 1 mistake) and unoriginal, unfunny nastiness.

He further added that rival teams are not even allowed to make offers yet and Dan Clark’s comment can easily cause misinterpretation. Their online jab took on another level when Clark further clarified he was just joking about “Juna Soto” as a “fictional person.”

He further tweaked Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani’s names, calling them “Arson Judge” and “Shawn Ohtani”. In an attempt to clap back at Heyman, Clark said, “I can’t believe some people are so gullible that I have to post this.”

Who will Juan Soto sign with in free agency?

The MLB world is now focusing on free agency, with the spotlight specifically on Juan Soto. He is undoubtedly one of the top high-ranking prospects in the free agency.

Following a stellar 2024 run with the New York Yankees, Soto’s asking price is expected to be above $500 million. Some even envision him crossing Shohei Ohtani’s $700 million.

Despite teams looking out to sign Soto, the NY Yankees, New York Mets, and Los Angeles Dodgers have the highest chances among the rest. During the press conference after Game 5 of the World Series, Soto said that he is available to all 30 MLB teams.

He won’t be taking sides with any, and will see who offers the best value, both in terms of money and championship chances. His agent Scott Boras, one of the top agents in MLB, will surely be looking forward to the highest pay holder in the free agency.

The Yankees also have a number of star players testing free waters as of now. They have to make an immediate decision on another one of their highest-priority players, Gerrit Cole, by Monday evening. The team will have to strategize and choose players carefully, as they hope to clinch the World Series Championship next year.
