Juan Soto was the last to leave the dugout after the New York Yankees lost the World Series in Game 5. He was seen sitting there looking at the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrate their win in only five out of the best-of-seven-series game.

The Yankees lost their 5-0 lead during the mid-inning and failed to recover from the burn. With the World Series curtain closed, the next crucial itinerary for the pinstripes is securing Juan Soto during free agency.

The NY Yankees signed him for a year with a $31 million contract. However, with the end of the World Series, the Juan Soto free agency war will begin. The front runners are the pinstripes, the New York Mets, and maybe the Los Angeles Dodgers.

His contract deal is expected to significantly increase with the start of $500 million to even $700 million. He is expected to challenge Dodgers Shohei Ohtani’s AAV following his extraordinary year with the Yankees. However, Soto clearly stated that he’s not exclusively thinking of any team at the moment and will look into opportunities from all 30 MLB teams.

I feel every team has the same opportunity. I don’t want to say anybody has an advantage…I’m definitely open to listen. I don’t have any doors closed. I’m available to all 30 teams.

Juan Soto said in the post game media meet

With Scott Boras as his agent, he is sure to look forward to the highest-bidding team and a team that looks forward to a World Series win with a solid roster. As for staying in NY, he time and again noted how much he loves the city and its people.

Talking about the Yankees’ dramatic 7-6 loss in Game 5 of the World Series, Soto commented that they definitely “wanted to be the last team standing, but things happen.” Even with the heartbreak in the World Series, he is happy with what they achieved over 2024.

Aaron Judge talks about Juan Soto’s free agency

The Aaron Judge-Juan Soto pair-up in 2024 destroyed many teams and created records in Yankees’ history. However, the pair is now questionable with Soto’s free agency looming near.

Speaking about Juan Soto’s free agency, Judge said he’s proud of the moments they shared and how much fun it was. Obviously all the Yankees want him at the Bronx, but the decision will solely be based on Soto himself.

I’m proud of the year that Juan had. It was fun to come to work with him every single day. Just the work he puts in behind the scenes…Whatever he and his family decide, he prays on it, he’s going to make the right decision for him and his family.

Aaron Judge said as per Bryan Hoch of MLB.

Giancarlo Stanton’s parting message to Soto was only of three words, “Stay with us.” The same sentiment can be echoed by every member of the Yankees organization.

Gerrit Cole said he’s excited about Soto’s free agency as he believes he has earned every right to be with the team he wants to win a Championship with. Aaron Boone said he considers him his family and hopes he stays with the team for the long haul. Nonetheless, whether Soto will remain in the Bronx or not, he has enjoyed his time as Yankee to the fullest.
