Since signing the historic $765 million deal with the New York Mets, Juan Soto has admitted not contacting his former teammates. In his introductory press conference, he mentioned how he wasn’t in touch with the Yankees players and will start contacting them now.
Since the playoff ended neither party contacted the other giving Soto privacy during free agency buzz. A report from USA Today’s Bob Nightengale added how Soto changed his cell phone number as he was being bombarded with outside calls.
Now with the signing done and sealed, he will be contacting his former teammates and hopes to remain in touch with them. During his time with the Yankees, he and captain Aaron Judge became the praised duo of the Bronx.
Their performance excelled in the 2024 run and even in the World Series. Many believed to see the duo back in action for the 2025 season, but that just didn’t happen. Regardless of the situation, Soto wishes to maintain their relationship and remain friends “forever”.
"We're still friends, we're still cool. It's just business. The relationship that we created last year will stay forever."

After the postseason, Aaron Judge was asked if he’d spoken to Juan Soto and he said no. Judge thought it would be best to give him space as the outfielder stayed in the spotlight until his signing with the Mets.
Former teammates and now rivals in NY, Soto wishes to continue staying in touch with each other off the field. Judge has yet to comment on his statement with the Yankees being in their rebuilding stage.
NY Yankees moving on from Juan Soto saga
After losing Juan Soto to the New York Mets, the New York Yankees are moving on from the past. Immediately after Soto’s agent, Scott Boras informed Brian Cashman of the outfielder’s decision, the phones started ringing.
Without wasting time, the Yankees’ front office was ready to hunt down their next target from free agency. The team has already added pitchers Max Fried and Devin Williams to bolster their lineup.
They need offensive powers to further strengthen the lineup and may go for Kyle Tucker or Alex Bregman in free agency. Teoscar Hernandez is also an option, but the team is not looking in that direction yet. They also expressed interest in adding Roki Sasaki to the group.
The reason there was no communication between Juan Soto and his former Yankee teammates simply is that Soto changed his cell phone number.

He was bombarded by outside calls during his free agency and wanted privacy.
Soto now is reaching out to former Yankee teammates.
However, it’s difficult to guess the Yankees’ next moves until official announcements. There are a lot of rumors, controversies, ifs, and buts on social media right now on the Yankees lineup. How it’ll end up prior to the start of next season is worth waiting for.
