On Wednesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post claimed that the Yankees had upped their bid for Soto in order to improve their standings in the $600 sweepstakes. Now, the Red Sox seem to be in the driving seat as reports of him having an hour-long call with Devers surfed up.

As per MLB insider Mike Rodriguez, the two Dominican internationals had an hour-long conversation. He further informed that the Red Sox have put up a 12-year, $50 million per year deal for Soto. The outfielder seems interested in this idea.

I just finished a call, and sources from #Boston informed me that the player spoke for over an hour with Rafael Devers about the team. There is a 12-year offer for around $50M per season, and #JuanSoto is interested in the idea of going to the Red Sox. Currently, the Red Sox are a strong contender for outfielder.

Another insider Hector Gomez would later comment on this matter. Reposting this tweet from Rodriguez, he wrote, “I’m hearing a 13-year, $625 million offer“, further adding fuel to this speculation.

The Dominican connection of the Red Sox is viewed as a strong point to land Soto. Over the years gone by, several Dominican stars such as David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez have made huge names for themselves while donning the colors of Red Sox.

The report of Soto agreeing to a deal with the Red Sox was broken by X user BeyondAvgMick. In a post, the insider claimed that Soto had agreed to a long-term deal with the team and has no deferrals in his contract.

Passan seems to have dispelled this. Though he did not directly mention the X user, the ESPN insider took a dig at him. In his X post, Passan claimed that he is “thankful” for reporters who do not make up stories.

I am thankful for reporters who don’t make up stories. I am also thankful that Juan Soto has not agreed to any contract, which means you can get off Twitter and go spend the holiday with your family. Happy Thanksgiving.
