The New York Mets not only celebrated their 8-0 win against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night, but also enjoyed watching Juan Soto silence the haters in style. Following his 15-year $765 million signing, Soto has been hitting nearly .400 in the Spring Training with his new club.

During Monday’s game, a fan in the green shirt was seen screaming, “Overpaid, Overrated” from the stands. Initially, Soto only gave him a look, but moments later, he launched a home run right in the fan’s direction to shut his accusations down.

Soto pointed at the fan in victory as his HR gave the NY Mets a 4-0 lead, boosting their 8-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. He has been a major addition to the Mets team this offseason, following his run with the New York Yankees last year.

Teams were anticipating his next move, as everyone wanted to sign up for his services during free agency. However, the outfielder chose to call the Mets his home for the next decade.

His signing became a matter of both celebrations and controversies as many believed he was indeed overpaid at $765 million. The criticisms doubled down when the Yankees offer was revealed to be at 16-year $760 million.

In the upcoming season, many believe Juan Soto will receive harsh criticisms for his signing, like the one in Monday’s game. However, there are several who celebrated his move to the Mets and are excited to see his performance in the regular season.

Darryl Strawberry applauds Juan Soto’s move to the NY Mets

MLB legend Darryl Strawberry, who previously played with both the New York Mets and New York Yankees, praised Juan Soto’s 15-year $765 million signing. He said that Soto coming to the Mets will only help the team elevate their performance alongside teammates Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso.

He also commented on how he might have been under Aaron Judge’s shadow had he stayed in the Bronx. Strawberry believes Soto’s move will allow him to stand in the spotlight and grow accordingly.

The Yankees losing the Juan Soto bid hurt their roster heavily. However, they were ready with Plan B to sign multiple star players to fill the hole Soto created. While his absence will be felt in the games, captain Judge believes they are still ready for the 2025 challenge.
