After penning down the $765 million deal, it was time for an official introduction of Juan Soto. The New York Mets held an introductory press conference regarding him on Thursday. While reacting to his move, Soto shared a heartfelt message to the New York Yankees fans and claimed they will always “have a spot” in his heart.
The four-time MLB All-Star enjoyed a stellar campaign this year with the Yankees. His 41 home runs in the regular season played a huge part in the team’s run to the 2024 World Series.
After the heartbreaking loss in the Fall Classic against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Soto went on to become a free agent. In the next few weeks, several rumors and speculations broke out regarding his future.
In the end, the 26-year-old picked the Mets over the Yankees. Soto, who had established himself as a fan favorite at the Bronx, rejected them and chose to call Citi Field as his new home.
While speaking with reporters on Thursday, the Dominican international expressed his gratitude to play for the Yankees.

Juan Soto claims he has not spoken to any former NY Yankees teammates
Since his move away from the New York Yankees, fans were eager to hear from Juan Soto. On Thursday, they finally got the chance to hear his thoughts as he took part in the introductory press conference. During this, he was asked about whether he had spoken to any of his former Yankee teammates, to which he shook his head in no.
The 5-time Silver Slugger explained that he last had a word with his former teammates during the postseason. After that, he was busy in the process regarding his future.

Soto later also spoke about his relationship with Aaron Judge. Once again, he claimed that he had spoken with him but expressed his desire to talk to him later on.
During the free agency, Judge claimed that he had not been in touch with Soto as he decided to give him and other free agents the space they needed to think about their future. The Yankee captain, though, did admit he had spoken with owner Hal Steinbrenner regarding Soto’s future.
In the 2024 season, the duo combined to hit 99 home runs and were both named Silver Sluggers. Now the duo finds themselves as bitter rivals as they try to lead their respective teams to glory in the upcoming seasons.
