On Sunday, the rosters for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta was announced. While some big names found their names on the reserves list, there were some massive omissions too. One of them was Juan Soto.
The New York Mets superstar is one of the biggest snubs in the All-Star Game this year. He has been part of this traditional Game in each of his last 4 seasons.
Entering the 2025 season, the spotlight was firmly on him. The Dominican international penned down the biggest deal in MLB history in December last year by agreeing to join the Mets on a 15-year, $765 million contract.
He did not have the best of starts to the new season and struggled a bit, leading to huge criticism. He did shake off that poor start in the month of June.
Through May 28, Soto had an OPS of .748. He entered the game on Sunday against his former team, the New York Yankees, with an OPS of 1.211 in his last 34 games. Despite having a slash line of .263/.396/.508 and having 21 home runs and 51 RBI, Soto will not be part of the All-Star Game this year.

While Soto will be sitting out of the event this year, his 3 teammates will join the other stars from across the league. Edwin Diaz and Pete Alonso were both named as reserves on Sunday. Meanwhile, Francisco Lindor was named the starting shortstop for the National League earlier on.
Social media reacts to Juan Soto failing to make it to the 2025 All-Star Game
Juan Soto not being named as a reserve for the National League in the 2025 All-Star Game came as a shock to many. Despite an incredible performance and resurgence back in form in June, the 4-time All-Star did not make the cut for the event this year.

His snub from the All-Star Game brought up some mixed reactions on social media. While some fans on X trolled him again for missing out, some of them were left genuinely shocked to see him not make it. One user wrote, “Freaking Joke” while reacting to this.
Check out that and some other reactions from X regarding this below:
How the hell did he NOT make the All-Star team? Jesus. Freaking joke.

I will never forgive fans for not voting for him because of his “slump”

That’s because he’s playing average

This is the problem with putting a player from every team in the all star game. The best players should be on the team and then if a team isn’t represented, their best player gets an honorary invite.

He’s been awful the first two months of the season; he isn’t gonna make it just for a good three weeks of baseball.

The all-star voting system needs to change. No way, Soto shouldn't be in .

The All-Star Game this year will be played at Truist Park in Atlanta, home of the Atlanta Braves, on July 15th. As for the Home Run Derby, this event will take place a day before the ASG on July 14th.
Juan Soto comments on missing the 2025 All-Star Game
Juan Soto will not be representing the New York Mets in his first season with them at the 2025 All-Star Game. The player did not make it to the team both as a starter and as a reserve player and will miss the event.

While speaking with the reporters after his team’s 6-4 loss against the New York Yankees on Sunday, the 26-year-old admitted that he needed to do a bit better.
Sometimes you’re gonna make it and sometimes you don’t. It’s just part of baseball… I’ve just got to be better.
Juan Soto has the 9th highest OPS & the 8th highest wRC+ in Major League Baseball… and he didn't make the All-Star team.

Alright then.
In the game on Sunday, Soto would go hitless in his 4 plate appearances. The Mets would end up losing the game and fail to sweep their cross-town rivals. They did take 2 out of the 3 games, just like how the Yankees did in the first meeting of these rivals in May.
