England international Jude Bellingham explained his catchy ‘wolf’ celebration with his teammate Trent-Alexander Arnold after scoring England’s only goal in a 1-0 win over Serbia, last night. The win allowed England to start off their Euros campaign on a positive note.
The Three Lions were ahead in the first half of the match, owing to a brilliant header by their star midfielder, Bellingham, in the 13th minute. The 20-year old, who is full of confidence following La Liga and Champions League triumphs with Real Madrid, won the Man of the Match award.

But what was interesting about the goal was the celebration that followed. His ‘wolf’-like pose caught the eyes of England supporters and football fans worldwide. Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold knelt down opposite to each other, and then, rested their right elbows on their thighs and covered their faces with their right hands.

Upon being asked about it during the post-match interview, the former Dortmund star exclaimed that the celebration was meant to honor the backroom staff, who work hard every day without receiving awards or commendation. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of maintaining that supportive atmosphere throughout the tournament.
It was more a celebration for the backroom staff, who put in so much work every day. They don’t get to have the moments we have on the pitch but we value them so much, and it’s important we keep that atmosphere.Jude Bellingham on his celebration (via BBC)

The celebration that Bellingham performed was derived from the game that the English players and their support staff play, called ‘Wolf’. Additionally, Bellingham mentioned that while playing Wolf, one of the staff members holds his face like that when he is confused.
England scrape past Serbia in their opening Euro 2024 match, Jude Bellingham scores the only goal
The Three Lions were unconvincing as they edged past Serbia, 1-0 in their opening Euro 2024 match. Jude Bellingham, assisted by Bukayo Saka, scored the only goal of the match in the 13th minute.

The English team began their match in Arena AufSchalke confidently, dominating the first half, but their energy waned in the second half. Despite an early goal, they allowed Serbia to regroup after the break. However, Serbia failed to score as Luka Jovic and Dusan Vlahovic missed multiple chances.
England aims to deliver a better performance against Denmark in their second Group C match on Thursday. As one of the title favorites, Gareth Southgate‘s team hopes for a significant turnaround in their form.
