English midfielder Jude Bellingham is facing a UEFA investigation for the lewd gesture he made after scoring the dramatic equalizer against Slovakia. The 21-year-old may face a ban, potentially missing the quarter-finals against Switzerland.

The Real Madrid star made the inappropriate gesture after scoring a 95th-minute goal in Gelsenkirchen, which helped them come back into the match. He directed the lewd gesture toward the opposition bench. The 21-year-old later claimed on social media that it was an ‘inside joke’ for his friends who were watching the match. However, he could be subject to disciplinary action from European football’s governing body.

UEFA is investigating Jude Bellingham for a gesture that could be deemed as possible ‘violation of rules of conduct’. The Englishman appeared to kiss his hand and grab his crotch, to make a gesture that could be deemed offensive. The European football rules allow referees to show red cards for such actions. Therefore, disciplinary and ethics officials will review the incident and decide if any punishment is warranted for the player.

This isn’t the first time the midfielder has faced charges for on-field actions; he previously encountered issues while playing for Real Madrid. Additionally, UEFA has taken action against the English Football Association (FA) for two fan-related incidents during the game.

Jude Bellingham impressed football fans with his foresight by claiming that his 19-year-old Real Madrid teammate, Arda Guler from Turkey, is a better player. Bellingham had previously predicted Guler’s immense potential.

According to Golden Boy creator Massimo Franchi, the former Dortmund star privately confided in him last December that Guler was ‘better than him’. The Fenerbahce prodigy, who became the Turkish side’s youngest goalscorer in Super Lig history at 17, surprised everyone by scoring six goals in just 12 appearances after moving to Los Blancos last season. Guler is now a part of the Turkish national team, and is currently playing for the team in the Euro 2024 championship.
