Sherrone Moore got some good news after a months-long legal battle that had cost him his job as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines college football team. Moore, 40, agreed to a no-contest plea deal on two new misdemeanor charges.
Life was going well for Moore as he climbed the ranks at Michigan, becoming a valued member of Jim Harbaugh’s coaching staff. After Harbaugh left following Michigan’s long-awaited CFP triumph, the board picked Moore as the program’s new head honcho.
However, Moore’s destiny took a drastic turn two years into the tenure. It was discovered that Moore had been cheating on his wife with his executive assistant at Michigan, a woman named Paige Shiver, who is also the daughter of a Chicago Bears scout.
The extramarital affair came to light after Shiver filed a complaint with the police, accusing Moore of entering her house without her permission. Investigators also claimed he sent messages that led to stalking accusations. Moore denied threatening or hurting the woman.

Michigan fired Moore not long after, and his wife began living separately with their kids. On Friday, March 6, Moore appeared in court and agreed to plead no contest to two misdemeanors: malicious use of a telecommunications device in a private relationship and trespassing.
What did Sherrone Moore’s attorney say about the court’s verdict?
The legal battle was a rough experience for Moore, costing him many things he held dear. Michigan let him go, his family started living apart, and worst of all, his once-respected reputation in the community was ruined.

Despite all that has happened, Moore plans to keep moving forward in life and work.
Here is a man [Sherrone Moore] who has devoted himself to working hard to get where he needs to be. And I can tell you that this is a man who will continue his path and continue his journey, and he will do what it takes to get there.
Moore’s attorney Ellen Michaels told the media in Ann Arbor
Per the Daily Mail, Michaels also revealed that Moore’s sentencing on the misdemeanor charges is scheduled for April 14.

Moore first got a taste of being a head coach when the Wolverines suspended Harbaugh for playing a key role in an alleged sign-stealing scandal. It was short-lived, as Harbaugh stepped in and guided the team to victory in the college football championship final.
Harbaugh left Michigan not long after. He took the vacant job at his former NFL team, the Los Angeles Chargers, avoiding further punishment from the NCAA. Michigan handed the program to Moore. He signed a five-year, $27.5 million contract to become the first African American to be hired as head coach at the University of Michigan.
In Moore’s first year, the Wolverines went 8-5 (5-4 in the Big 10) and won the ReliaQuest Bowl game. Michigan defeated No. 11 Alabama 19-13 after entering as 16.5-point underdogs. Ahead of the 2025 season, it was revealed that Moore was expected to be suspended for the Central Michigan and Nebraska games due to the sign-stealing scandal.
On the final day of the campaign, Michigan played arch-rivals Ohio State, a game that ended in a 27–9 humiliation. It was Moore’s first loss against the Buckeyes as a coach and Michigan’s first defeat since 2019. Ranked 18th, Michigan made it to the Citrus Bowl but was soundly defeated 41-27 by the Texas Longhorns. Michigan finished 7-3.
