Andy Murray and Dan Evans pulled off another close escape on Tuesday (July 30) as they continued to fight at the Paris Olympics. Judy Murray was once again delighted as the Brits gave Andy Murray another chance in his final tournament.
Just before the Olympics started, Murray had declared that it would be his last professional tournament. Having pulled out of singles, the men’s doubles tournament was his last one in tennis. However, it seemed like he was not going to last long after facing five match points in the first round.
However, that was when Murray and Evans played out of desperation. Neither of them was ready to give up their chance in the Olympics and fought back, saving five match points to win the match. Shockingly, the second round had a similar scenario.
The Brits were up against the Belgians Sander Gille and Joran Vliegan, who bounced back into the game in the second set. They won the tie-break and pushed the match to a 10-point decider. Continuing the same form, the Belgians saw themselves two match points up.
Just like in their first match at the 2024 Games, the Brits showed immense character and saved those two match points to go on and win their second consecutive close match. They jumped around in delight celebrating the win. Judy Murray was also delighted for them as she expressed in her tweet.
You have to love this celebration. How much it means to them.Judy Murray wrote on X
