Earlier today, Emma Raducanu announced that she would be unable to play her mixed doubles match partnering Andy Murray, just a few hours before it was scheduled to happen. She cited wrist soreness as the reason for pulling out of what may have been Andy Murray’s last match at Wimbledon, thereby ending his nearly 23 years journey at his home slam abruptly.
Judy Murray, Andy Murray’s mother, does not seem thrilled about this news, offering a sarcastic reply to a post on X that said Raducanu’s withdrawal was astonishing.
Yes, astonishing.Judy Murray commented with presumably an underlying tone of sarcasm
It is understandable as the British fans, and especially his mother, expected to see Murray play on the coveted courts of Wimbledon one last time, despite his farewell speech after losing the men’s doubles tie partnering his brother Jamie.
Raducanu, about whom fans had mixed opinions before this fiasco, is sure to receive some backlash about this decision, especially since she is still going to be playing her singles match on Sunday.

Emma Raducanu faces injury concerns again after a wrist injury kept her out of action for months
Emma Raducanu seemed to be on the decline after winning her only Grand Slam in New York in 2021 due to multiple injuries, the most prominent of which was a wrist injury that required surgery and almost a year of rehab.
She returned to action this year and after some poor results, found her footing on the grass. Raducanu has reached the fourth round at Wimbledon after dispatching ninth-seeded Maria Sakkari in straight sets in the third round. However, her wrist troubles seem to still loom over her as a dark cloud.
She mentioned that she was feeling some discomfort in her wrist which forced her to withdraw from the mixed doubles draw despite previously expressing how excited she was to partner her idol and compatriot, Andy Murray. It remains to be seen how she will fare in the fourth round, where she will face the qualifier Lulu Sun from New Zealand.
