Jules Kounde was involved in the wrong mix of things in the clash between Celta and FC Barcelona in Balaidos. His schoolboy error in the 84th minute helped Celta score the first goal after Barca was down to 10 men following Marc Casado‘s red card.

Soon after, Barcelona conceded its second goal. From 2-0 up, they were reduced to 2-2 and dropped points for the second consecutive game. In the post-match press conference, Kounde accepted his mistake and stated that he was responsible for Barcelona dropping two points.

I take responsibility as we were gonna win this game without my bad mistake. I’m sorry for that. I lacked focus and we can’t do it. I lacked concentration and in the end, you pay dearly for it with a gross error that you cannot allow. I accept this error which puts us in a difficult situation.

Jules Kounde said

Kounde was caught out of position and did not clear the ball at the right moment due to lack of focus. Alfonso Gonzalez capitalised on the mistake, put the pressure on the Barca right-back, and scored the goal to bring Celta back into the game.

FC Barcelona just seven points clear of Real Madrid having played two games more

Barcelona lost against Real Sociedad in their last game before the international break. Now, they have dropped points against Celta. They now have a seven-point lead against Real Madrid.

However, Los Blancos do have two games in their hand. If Real Madrid go on to win those two games, it will just be one point behind the Blaugrana.

Lamine Yamal did not feature in this game and Barcelona has lost points in all three games where he hasn’t played or started. Jules Kounde admitted that it was a learning experience for him and his team given that they did not put in their best performances in the last two games.

The Frenchman wants his team to stay strong and united. Barcelona’s offside trap, which has worked so well this season, has been breached in the last two games multiple times. That is a chink in the defensive armor that needs addressing soon.
