Julian Edelman defends Bill Belichick’s girlfriend Jordon Hudson over unnecessary heat after CBS interview
The 73-year-old coach’s relationship with Hudson, 49 years his junior, sparked renewed backlash after her visible presence in a CBS interview stirred debate.

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has publicly defended his former coach, Bill Belichick, and his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, this week. The pair had faced intense scrutiny following Belichick’s interview about his upcoming book with CBS, which aired selective footage.
In the segment, Hudson interrupted when the host of CBS Mornings’ Tony Dokoupil asked how she and Belichick met, sparking criticism online. Critics accused Hudson of overstepping and Belichick of dodging personal questions.
Hudson, who has been described as Belichick’s “creative muse,” had reportedly paused the interview for 30 minutes during taping. TMZ claimed she stormed out after a disagreement regarding the interview’s content. The edited clip that aired included only a brief interjection, omitting broader context. Belichick and Hudson were later accused of trying to control the media narrative by censoring questions.
Despite the public backlash for the veteran coach and his partner, Julian Edelman argued that Hudson’s actions were mis-characterized and taken out of context. He likened her role to that of a PR professional managing media boundaries during interviews.
Edelman emphasized that Hudson had been working behind the scenes on Belichick’s football operations and public image. According to him, her interjection was appropriate and part of her job responsibilities.
People are given an unfair reality of what’s going on. She was jumping in like any PR person would when something wasn’t pre-approved. From what I’ve heard, she’s handling football ops, PR, and social media.

Belichick also issued a statement, criticizing CBS for selectively editing the segment and misrepresenting the 35-minute conversation.
Belichick maintained that he had been open about how he met Hudson — on a 2021 flight to Palm Beach. He said Hudson had intervened only to help keep the conversation on track, not to deflect. CBS later responded, stating that there were no preconditions for the interview and that the questions were approved in advance.
Jordan Hudson also shared an Instagram post featuring an email from Belichick to media personalities about the content being put out.
Dave Portnoy echoed Julian Edelman’s words about Jordon Hudson, but in a different light
A day after Edelman jokingly likened Jordon Hudson to Bill Belichick’s personal PR manager, Dave Portnoy took that same idea and stripped away the humor. The Barstool Sports founder and die-hard Patriots fan didn’t sound amused.

Appearing on The Megyn Kelly Show, Portnoy expressed open discomfort at what he described as Belichick’s growing dependence on his 24-year-old girlfriend, who he says now handles “every piece” of the legendary coach’s business affairs.
“She’s running the whole show,” Portnoy said flatly, describing how Hudson has allegedly inserted herself into decisions involving Belichick’s brand, media presence, and even professional ventures.
I love Bill Belichick… but I was squirming. I don’t know what to expect anymore.
Dave Portnoy confessed
What’s more, Portnoy claimed Hudson even nixed an entire NFL Films project that was reportedly set to chronicle Belichick’s new coaching role at UNC.
There’s rumors Hard Knocks was supposed to do North Carolina. She shut that down.

The unease wasn’t limited to interviews or documentaries. Portnoy pointed to the uncharacteristically flashy rollout of Belichick’s memoir, The Art of Winning, as further proof that this isn’t the man Patriots fans once revered for his disdain for the spotlight. Portnoy noted that Belichick would never do a book tour in a million years if not for Jordon Hudson.
