Julian Edelman believes that Aaron Rodgers’ absence right before the offseason training camp is a bad look for the New York Jets. The retired NFL receiver showed concern for the new players and the morale inside the locker room.
Edelman was a guest speaker on the recent episode of FS1’s The Herd, hosted by Colin Cowherd. Ironically, Cowherd remains one of the biggest critics of Rodgers for missing the Jets Mandatory minicamp last week.
It became an even bigger issue after head coach Robert Saleh revealed that the 40-year-old knew that the absence was ‘unexcused’ and yet still chose to miss the minicamp. Julian Edelman, who locked horns with Rodgers for more than a decade, concluded that it doesn’t paint a good picture for the franchise.
I think it’s a bad look for your leader, for whatever reason, to go and miss an unexcused absence.Julian Edelman said
The ex-New England Patriots playmaker and one of the key targets for Tom Brady disclosed that the 7 time Super Bowl winner would occasionally miss OTAs toward the end of his career but never skipped minicamp. Aaron Rodgers, being the senior most player on the Jets roster, should set an example of punctuality for the young ones. Instead, he jetted off to somewhere unknown.

Julian Edelman showed concern about whether the Jets can handle the locker room in Aaron Rodgers’ absence
Despite Coach Salah’s best efforts to calm the situation down, Rodgers’ criticism remains the biggest news out of East Rutherford, New Jersey. Long-time Jets fan and media personality Craig Carton labeled the scenario as if the organization believes that the 4 time NFL MVP is Jesus Christ.
Edelman wasn’t that harsh with his words but showed concern about the situation among Rodgers’ teammates when the new season rolled out. After losing his first year through a torn Achilles, many expected him to divert his entire focus on the team, but missing the minicamp raised serious questions.
Having played four snaps off of an injury when we have two new receivers, a bunch of new linemen that we added to the team, with a CBA that doesn’t allow us to practice a lot, I guarantee there’s [will be] four or five guys sitting there like, ‘Where’s he [Aaron Rodgers] at’.Julian Edelman said
At the very least, Haason Reddick has an excuse that he was cosplaying on the streets of Japan. Rodgers hasn’t even disclosed where he flew off to.
