Julio Rodriguez and the Seattle Mariners were left heartbroken on Monday following a crushing Game 7 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays. Following the game, he was heard screaming loudly on a video while his teammate Bryan Woo was getting interviewed.
After the two teams exchanged early blows in the first inning, Rodriguez broke the 1-1 tie in the 3rd inning. The center fielder crushed a 423-foot go-ahead home run and made it a 2-1 game. Cal Raleigh would later extend the lead with a solo home run of his own in the 5th inning.
At that stage, the Mariners were cruising and seemed destined to be on their way to the 2025 World Series. However, a massive 3-run home run from George Springer in the 7th inning turned things around for the Blue Jays.
The 3-run bomb from Springer put his side 4-3 up. This moment turned out to be decisive as they held on to the lead and knocked out the Mariners from the American League Championship Series (ALCS).

Rodriguez was the one who stuck out swinging to Jeff Hoffman, which ended the game. The Mariners were left dejected following this setback.
In their locker room, pitcher Bryan Woo was in the middle of an interview. During this, a loud explosive scream was heard.

At first, Woo was left shocked too. It was later reported that the scream came from Rodriguez. While the player had a good discussion with the media, he was unable to control his emotions later on and let out a huge cry.
This was Julio, after being incredibly gracious with the media. But the emotions are real and unfiltered here. I don’t blame him at all. #Mariners https://t.co/gHLe4pLZOm

The Mariners created some unwanted history following their loss. They became the first team in MLB history to lose a best-of-seven LCS after winning the first 2 games on the road.
After winning Games 1 and 2, they lost Games 3 and 4. They won Game 5 at home but then lost Games 6 and 7 in Toronto and were eliminated from the 2025 postseason.
Cal Raleigh left heartbroken following Mariners’ ALCS Game 7 loss
Not every story has a happy ending. Cal Raleigh and the Seattle Mariners learnt this the hard way on Monday night as the Toronto Blue Jays edged them out 4-3 in Game 7 of the ALCS. Following the game, Raleigh was left heartbroken and in tears.

The 2025 season had been a magical one for Raleigh and his team. The catcher broke several records as he continued to rake throughout the season.
After becoming the first catcher to win the Home Run Derby, “Big Dumper” continued his hot form. He broke the record for the most home runs hit by a catcher and then broke a franchise record.
His 60 home runs in the regular season were the most by a Seattle Mariners star. The previous club record belonged to Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. with 56 home runs. Meanwhile, the Mariners took over the AL West standings in the final weeks of the season and claimed their first division title since 2001.
Raleigh crushed his 5th home run of the postseason in Game 7. However, despite his heroics, they were unable to get the job done.
While speaking with the reporters in the locker room, the 29-year-old was emotional. He would later term the setback as “failure.“
It just sucks. It hurts. I hate to use the word failure, but it’s a failure. That’s what we expected, was to get to the World Series and win the World Series, and that’s what the bar is and the standard is. And that’s what we want to hold ourselves accountable to.

The Mariners remain the only team in MLB history without a World Series appearance. Game 7 of the ALCS is the furthest they have reached in a postseason in their franchise history.
Speaking of the World Series, the Blue Jays will now take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. The AL side has not won the title since 1993. Meanwhile, the Dodgers are hoping to go back-to-back and successfully defend their title. Game 1 will be played on Friday at Rogers Centre.
