Junior tennis player, Max Schoenhaus, shared an anecdote about the time when he saw Novak Djokovic at a restaurant. Djokovic is the 24-time Grand Slam champion and will continue his search for his historic 25th Major next year.

Djokovic finished the 2025 season with two ATP 250 titles, defeating Hubert Hurkacz at the Geneva Open and Lorenzo Musetti at the Hellenic Championship. The win in Geneva made him the third man in the Open Era to win 100 or more titles after Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer.

The 38-year-old also reached the final of the Miami Open, but he failed to go past Jakub Mensik. Schonhaus, during his interview with Advantage der Tennis & Sportpodcast, shared an anecdote about Djokovic.

He walks in, and everyone knows he’s there. What was incredible was last year at the French Open, in the restaurant area where juniors are also allowed. It was so incredibly loud. The restaurant was so full, so many people were standing because there were no more seats, and then it was just so loud because everyone had gone into this restaurant.

Max Schoenhaus said

Djokovic last won a Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open by defeating Daniil Medvedev. Since then, he reached just one Grand Slam final: at Wimbledon, where Carlos Alcaraz defeated him in straight sets.

And then Djokovic comes in with his team, and there is absolute silence. No one says anything anymore. Everyone watched him come in, wondering where he was going. It was one of those moments where you say, ‘okay, you could really feel his aura. ’I don’t think that would happen if anyone else came in’.

Max Schonhaus added

Djokovic wishes to play till the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and call time on his career there. The last Big Title that he won was the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medal by defeating Alcaraz.

Marcos Baghdatis on whether Novak Djokovic can win another Major

This year in the Grand Slam events, Novak Djokovic has reached every semifinal. At the Australian Open, an injury forced him to give the walkover to eventual runner-up Alexander Zverev, while at the French Open and Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner knocked him out in straight sets. Then at the US Open, Carlos Alcaraz beat him in straight sets.

At present, the two top players, as well as injuries, are stopping him from winning another Major. Amidst this, former player Marcos Baghdatis, during his interview with Tennis365, shared his opinion on whether Djokovic can win another Grand Slam title.

Year by year, it’s going less and less, the chances, that’s for sure. But he’s still there, he’s still in the top five players in the world, he’s still competing with the top two, even the top three. So, he’s still there. But how long, I think, depends only on him, depends especially on his mind, if he’s still enjoying it and playing at that level. If I was in his place, I would never retire either. But it all depends on him.

The next big event is the Australian Open, where Djokovic will be bidding to win his 11th title. The last time he won in Melbourne was in 2023 by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The main draw of the Australian Open kicks off on January 18. But before the first Major of the season, Djokovic will be featuring at the Adelaide International, where he won the titles on his previous two appearances, in 2007 and 2023.

This season, he played the Brisbane International warm-up event before the Australian Open. Reilly Opelka knocked him out in the quarterfinals in straight sets.
