In the span of just a few days, there will be a brand new color shimmering on the SoFi Cup. The Jupiter Links Golf Club is taking on the Los Angeles Golf Club in the second season finale of the Tomorrow’s Golf League, taking place at the SoFi Center in Palm Gardens, Miami.

In the inaugural game, the Los Angeles GC took a blistering lead in the three-match series, winning the first game on Monday.

The Jupiter Links GC lost out on a 5-4 lead they held in Hole 19, after Sahith Theegala took two points in a hammer throw in the final hole of the singles match after Kevin Kisner missed a 21-foot putt by mere inches.

The Jupiter Links GC, whose mastercard remains the veteran Tiger Woods, wasn’t in the fray in the first game. Woods, who has been on the sidelines since his back surgery back in October, fielded a team of Kisner, Tom Kim, and Max Homa for the Jupiter Links GC. It’s a dream come true for the young generation of golfers to play alongside Woods and carve a connection with one of the biggest names in the sport.

Appearing on the Rich Eisen Show, Homa revealed that he has cozied up to Woods in the past few weeks. He has gone from a young player asking for advice to a friend with whom he talks about the LA Dodgers or football or family life. Homa said:

He’s been great, but it’s interesting, at the beginning of our relationship, I used to pick his brain a lot more. And as it’s gone on, I just enjoy talking to him like a normal person, just as a friend… It’s cooler at times just talking about the Dodgers and football or family life and all that. But he’s been great.

He also admitted that he has come to realise that there are some levels of magic that Woods got which can’t be taught or learnt. As for the best advice he’s got, Homa said that it wasn’t a response to something that he asked but something he told him during The Open Championship at St. Andrews. Homa added:

He came up behind me and asked me, ‘How many times have you won out here?’. At the time, it was three. And he very seriously looked at me and said, ‘It should be a lot more’ and just kept walking. And I was like, alright, I’m going to remember that one. Because if he thinks I should be winning more, I should probably also believe that.

In the first game of the series, Homa did make his mark, being the first to drive green on the hole dubbed “Cut the Sails”, hitting it 336 yards to about 41 feet.

Tiger Woods set to return for the second game of the three-game series

The 15-time Masters champion, Tiger Woods, has announced that he will return to action for the first time since The Open at Royal Troon in 2024. The 50-year-old represents the Jupiter Links GC in the TGL Finals; his decision came after the first game loss in the three-game series.

The Los Angeles GC, featuring a sparkling duo of Olympic medalists and Sahith Theegala, holds the lead after a win on Monday. The Jupiter Links will have to fetch the remaining two games to fetch the coveted SoFi Cup, and they’ll take any help they can get.

As for Woods, the Augusta Masters is just two weeks away, and his presence on Tuesday for the second game may be a signal as to where the athlete stands in coming back to outdoor action. However, as opposed to the veteran competitions, the TGL features an indoor setup where Woods doesn’t have to trot around much playing different holes.
