The Super League has created a lot of controversy after the proposal was announced by the 12 clubs to form a league of their own. Liverpool are one of the 12 founding clubs supporting Florentino Perez’s idea of the Super League.

Former Manchester United footballer Gary Neville, who now works as a Sky Sports reporter was one of the first ones to call out English clubs like United and Liverpool over their participation in the cash rich league. However, Jurgen Klopp has hit out at the former United footballer over his comments on Liverpool in the past few days.

“Don’t know why I’m in his head”, says Gary Neville on Klopp criticism over Super League comments

Gary Neville said, “Liverpool, the pretend (with) ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ (they are) the people’s club, the fans’ club. It is an absolutely disgrace. Relegate United, Arsenal and Liverpool. Give the titles to Fulham and Burnley.”

Liverpool drew 1-1 against Leeds United as they played in the Premier League for the first time since the announcement of the Super League. And Jurgen Klopp took on the opportunity to give Neville a taste of his own medicine.

Responding to Neville’s comments on Sunday about Liverpool’s owners “pretend they’re with the club with YNWA and all that” Klopp shot back.

“That Gary Neville speaks about ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ – that at least should be forbidden,” said Klopp of the ex-Manchester United player turned Sky Sports pundit.

“Because we have a lot of right to sing that anthem, it’s out anthem, it’s not his anthem – and he doesn’t understand it anyway.”

Klopp added of the Super League fallout: “I don’t like it as well – but I don’t talk about other clubs… But I would wish Gary Neville would be in a hot seat somewhere and not everywhere where the most money is.

“He was at Man United, where the most money is; Sky where the most money is – all these kind of things.”

Neville’s response in the Sky studio was swift: “Why’s it not fair?” he asked about himself commenting on Liverpool’s anthem.

“Yesterday was nothing to do with insulting Liverpool Football Club. I don’t know why I’m living in his head to be honest you.”
