Jurgen Klopp and staff come to Melwood one last time as move to Kirkby finalized
Jurgen Klopp and his staff visited Melwood one last time as the club moves to their new ground Kirkby. Melwood in West Derby has been the training ground for Liverpool Football Club since the Bob Paisely era. Jurgen Klopp is the last Liverpool manager to ever set foot in Melwood, but will be the first manager to usher in the new era in Kirkby.
Kirkby is a level above Melwood
Melwood has seen hundreds of Liverpool players come and go and now it will be sold to affordable house constructor Torus. Torus is a not-for-profit organisation which constructs affordable houses. Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group had commissioned the construction of its new training ground Kirkby. The club was supposed to move there in pre-season of the 2020/21 Premier League season, but the pandemic put a stop to everything.
The coaching staff will make their move this week and oversee all formalities. The first team players will visit the new training ground for the first time after the international break. Jurgen Klopp will be able to observe both the first team members and the youth players as Kirkby brings everyone together. This will be especially helpful for youth development.
