German legend Jurgen Klopp will make a surprising return to management, for Borussia Dortmund for a one-off special match. This will be the 57-year-old first game in charge after departing Liverpool, at the end of the previous 2023-24 season.
Jurgen Klopp had announced his decision to depart Liverpool this summer, citing exhaustion as a reason. It marked an end to a historic nine-year tenure at the Anfield, where he won a UCL and a Premier League title. The German manager has since then been enjoying his time off, while also hinting at possible retirement from management in order to take up other administrative roles. He has now returned to his former side, Borussia Dortmund, to take part in a special match.
Klopp’s association with Dortmund ended in 2015, after a much successful stint, winning two back-to-back Bundesliga titles. He has now returned to the Signal Iduna Park for an off-match, celebrating the retirement of two Dortmund legends, Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski, who had once played under the German manager. The two stars will also be joined by a number of other stars, including Mats Hummels and Nuri Sahin, marking a reunion of the historic 2010s Dortmund side.

Arne, yeah. Really good coach. I was really happy when I heard that Liverpool was going for Arne Slot. A lot of things have changed since we left. But the only concern for me was, will they get a good coach?Jurgen Klopp on new Liverpool manager Arne Slot (via ESPN)
