Former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp, who most recently stepped down from his role in the Premier League, has made a move to the Red Bull group. The 57-year-old manager joins as Red Bull’s new Head of Global Soccer.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Jurgen Klopp‘s future, after having ended his nine-year association with Premier League giants Liverpool. He left the role, citing exhaustion as a reason, while also exclaiming that he would take a brief hiatus from football management. Klopp’s new destination has now been revealed, with the German set to take up the role of Global Soccer Head at Red Bull group, which owns several clubs including Leipzig, Salzburg and Leeds United (minority stake).

The 57-year-old manager is set to take up the role on 1 January 2025 and will advise all the Red Bull group clubs on transfer strategies, while also helping them scout players and mentor coaches. Speaking on his recent employment, the German manager clarified that his role in football might have changed, but his passion for football hasn’t. Moreover, he expressed excitement for the new project, after remaining on the touchline for 25 long years.

It would be interesting to see Jurgen Klopp in a new role, after most recently having coached at the Borussia Dortmund stadium for a one-off farewell match. The exhibition match featured a number of football stars, led by former Dortmund stars Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski.

Liverpool fans slammed former manager Jurgen Klopp, over his new role as Global Soccer Head with Red Bull Group. The German manager’s recent move has not stood well with Dortmund fans either, with RB Group club Leipzig being their Bundesliga rival.

Fans shared their reactions on social media, with some of them even labeling the former Dortmund manager as greedy and as a ‘sell-out’. Another fan stated that Klopp’s new role could just be a marketing vehicle for the Red Bull energy drink. One other fan compared the 57-year-old manager’s move to Red Bull Group to that of Jordan Henderson‘s transfer to the Saudi PL.

Despite the Merseyside club’s fans taking a dig at their former manager, they have enjoyed life under new manager Arne Slot. Liverpool are currently on top of the Premier League table with 18 points from seven matches, one ahead of reigning champions, Manchester City.
