Ex-Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly turned down the opportunity to become the new US men’s national team manager. The position has been vacant since former manager Gregg Berhalter‘s recent dismissal.

The USMNT is on the hunt for a new manager after officially relieving Gregg Berhalter of his duties, owing to a poor 2024 Copa America display. The Americans failed to advance past the group stage, losing to a lowly-ranked Panama and Uruguay. The US Soccer Federation reportedly approached former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, but the German has declined their inquiry regarding his availability and interest.

Klopp parted ways with the Merseyside club, after a successful nine-year stint. He has expressed his intention to take a 12-month break from management, stating that he had ‘run out of energy.’ During his tenure, Liverpool won their first Premier League title in 30 years and the 2019 UCL. The 57-year-old manager has reportedly turned down substantial financial offers from the USMNT, garnering reactions from football fans.

Following Klopp’s rejection, the USMNT may explore other options for the national team manager position. Potential candidates include Los Angeles FC manager Steve Cherundolo, Philadelphia Union’s Jim Curtin, and Frenchman Herve Renard.
