Jurgen Klopp wins FIFA Best Men’s Manager of 2020 after leading Liverpool to Premier League title after 30 years
Jurgen Klopp led the current Liverpool team to glory and has immortalized himself and the team for being the ones to win the first Premier League title for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp became the first manager to win the award consecutively after Liverpool won the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League in the same calendar year. Liverpool lifted the Premier League title after 30 years and lifted it in style with the second biggest points gap. Liverpool and Manchester City had a gap of 18 points as the former went on to win the Premier League title.

Ended thirty years of pain and misery and made new dreams

Jurgen Klopp came around and ended the pain and misery of being underachievers in the Premier League era. Liverpool had some good moments in the 2008/09 season and in the 2013/14 season but ultimately failed to win the Premier League. In October 2015, Brendan Rodgers was sacked after a goalless draw to Everton and Jurgen Klopp was appointed.

In his first season, he took Liverpool to the finals of the League Cup and Europa League, but eventually lost to Manchester City and Sevilla respectively. In his first full season at Liverpool, he guided them to a 4th place finish and it was the same in the 2017/18 season. Liverpool established themselves as challengers in the 2018/19 season as they challenged Manchester City for the Premier League. The title race dragged on till the last day of the season and at one point of time Manchester City notched up 14 wins on the trot to stay in the title race.

Liverpool ensured there was no such repeat in the 2019/20 season and relentlessly won games till they ended the season with three losses and 99 points in the bag. Now Jurgen Klopp has ensured that there will be a new generation of Liverpool fans who will dream again. Liverpool currently are leading the league again having beaten Tottenham recently.

Jurgen Klopp himself said that Hansi Flick deserves the award more than he does. It was simply facts as Flick turned around a team that was suffering under Niko Kovac to the team they were before. But as one person put it “Flick had to just turn the engine on, Klopp had to change the entire engine”.

Fair enough to say, both managers deserved it and this isn’t the end of the road for Hansi Flick anyway. There is more to come and it will come for the gifted manager.
