“Just another fake macho”- Paulo Costa and Sean Strickland trade barbs after recent call-out

Paulo Costa- Sean Strickland

UFC middleweights Paulo Costa and Sean Strickland may end up being rivals of this year with the way they’re interacting on Twitter, which may possibly lead to a fight booking between the two, only if Costa makes weight this time. Strickland and Costa are on a different directions on their career. While Costa is on a two-fight skid, Strickland is on a 6-fight winning streak.

In his last two fights, Costa fought and lost his first ever title shot against current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya via second round TKO. In his last fight, losing an unanimous decision against Marvin Vettori, Costa became notoriously famous for not being able to make 185 lbs weight and missing it by an entire weight class, which led the originally scheduled middleweight fight to happen at light-heavyweight. Strickland on the other hand is on a run over the middleweights since him moving up from welterweight and has won over the likes of Jack Hermansson, Uriah Hall, Krzysztkof Jotko, Nordine Taleb, Court McGee and many more.

Paulo Costa and Sean Strickland trade callouts starting way back from November 2021

Just recently, Costa tweeted pictures of headlines from the news of November 2021 which was about Strickland calling out Costa, way before Costa’s weight cutting debacle. On the caption, Costa wrote “Let’s do it rat. [rat emoji]”

Strickland replied to Costa’s response to the former’s callout of the latter from the past and said “I asked for Costa and the UFC didn’t seem so confident in his future.. Also i dont think they liked me punching down to get a title shot lol.. but worst case for you Costa there is always bellator.. Maybe 205? Idk…”

Costa then came back with a vicious response saying “I knew you were a fuc*king pus*y but this show of insecurity surprised even me. just another fake macho”

What do you make of his callout of Strickland by Costa back after few months of Strickland being the one calling out Costa? Do you think this fight would make sense considering Costa is having weight cutting issues to make it to middleweight? Who do you think gets the win if this fight ever happens?
