Amid the challenging start to his second season, Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston made a blunder on Monday by missing what is labeled as the easiest catch of all time. His skills as a wide receiver came under intense scrutiny after his team failed to recover from his dropped pass, yet Justin Herbert remained unfazed.
Los Angeles quarterback Herbert targeted Johnston five times in the Monday Night Football game, and none were caught by him. Not only did he drop three catches, but also logged his first game with zero catches since October 2023. However, his quarterback has not lost faith in him, as he once again came to the receiver’s defense and supported him amid the challenging time.
The signal-caller called out Johnston’s critics by judging his skills over a mistake that many professionals make. While acknowledging that the loss shouldn’t rest solely on the wideout, he also took responsibility for the dropped pass, vowing to deliver the ball better.
