Gridiron football or any sport for that matter is made up of a boatload of entities. It is kept alive by the roaring fans and the competitive heat drizzling in and out of the field. A little competitive spirit among former teammates is manna for the press and a welcome delight for any fan. The finest friendly rivalry in sports today may well be the spirited competition between Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase, two former LSU Tigers vying for the same crown.

As the fifteenth week of the regular season approaches, both have graced the field for 13 games. Chase currently dominates the statistical race, while Jefferson’s Vikings march confidently toward the playoffs. In an interview with Rich Eisen, Jefferson admitted to keeping a close eye on Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Burrow’s electrifying performances in Cincinnati.

I definitely keep tabs. I’ll watch their games whenever we’re not playing or when I’m just relaxing at home.

Justin Jefferson quipped

As the former teammates find themselves on opposing sides, Jefferson has admitted to their relationship declining over the years. In a video shared by the Minnesota Vikings YouTube, Jefferson was heard speaking to reporters about the current dynamic between him and Chase.

Not really. Not during the season… We always had that connection that we always talked, to the point where we talked all the time. It’s not like that (anymore).

Tom Brady picks his ideal wideout in Justin Jefferson while comparing to Randy Moss

During a recent interview, Fox Sports’ lead color analyst Tom Brady was asked which current wide receiver he would want to throw to that he hadn’t played with before. Without hesitation, Brady selected Justin Jefferson, drawing a comparison between the young star and Hall of Fame receiver Randy Moss, a former Viking.

Couple tough choices out there. I know Ja’marr Chase, what a year he’s having, but I’m saying Justin Jefferson, he can do everything from any spot on the field, he goes deep, he goes short, catch the ball, catch and run touchdowns, third down. He’s a ridiculous pleasure, reminds me so much of my former teammate and Viking Randy Moss. So it becomes down to choosing only one he would be the one right now.

Tom Brady said

Jefferson and Chase have played thirteen games each in the competition so far. Chase is leading the league in receiving yards, 1,319 with 93 receptions and 15 touchdowns. Jefferson is on his tail with 1170 yards from 7 touchdowns. With barely four games left in the season, counting out the Week 15, the race is expected to heat monumentally.
