Is Justin Jefferson seeking a trade from the Minnesota Vikings? Well, fans are convinced he is. After an impressive regular season run with 14 wins, the Vikings’ playoff journey was cut short after a disappointing loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams.

As quarterback Sam Darnold struggled with being sacked nine times and having a hold of the football, the Vikings offense collapsed. With no support from the team, Jefferson was heavily overpowered by the opposing defense and completed the game with just five receptions for 58 yards.

As he walked to the locker room following the loss, he made a hand gesture that conveyed a sense of “goodwill,” often interpreted as a farewell.

Fans also observed a noticeable shift in his demeanor which combined with his hand gesture made them speculate that the All-Pro receiver is planning to seek a trade request from the team. However, this remains purely speculative among the fans, as there have been no reports indicating an impending trade request by Jefferson.

The likelihood of this happening in the near future is also quite slim, as the star wideout recently became the highest-paid player at his position in the history of the NFL after signing a four-year contract worth a whopping $140 million contract with the Vikings, solidifying his status with an annual average of $35 million.

This implies that the hand gesture was merely to indicate that he has made peace with the Vikings’ playoff elimination even though it frustrated him to the very core. As the season finished for him, he departed with 103 receptions for 1,533 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Justin Jefferson unfazed by quarterback changes post-playoff loss

The Vikings wide receiver didn’t just make headlines for his speculated departure, but he has quite an interesting response when asked about the quarterback position since Darnold is most likely to part ways with the team. He stated that this matter falls outside the scope of his job responsibilities, so he is not concerned about who takes on that role.

I didn’t know who my quarterback was going to be [after last season], and I really didn’t care. But it’s not my job to say who is going to be the quarterback or who do I want to be the quarterback. At the end of the day, they’re going to figure it out, and whoever they decide to go with, we can work with that.

Justin Jefferson told the reporters

Jefferson emphasized that the quarterback position has no impact on his performance, stating that he is ready to welcome whoever the team chooses, whether it’s rookie J.J. McCarthy or giving Darnold another chance.
