Justin Jefferson Feels Logan Paul Isn’t Athletic Enough to Play Football Amid NFL vs. WWE Debate

Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson echoed the same sentiment as Tom Brady by implying that Logan Paul does not possess the athletic ability to play pro football.

Everyone wants a piece of Logan Paul. The real-life ‘Merc with the Mouth’ successfully riled up the football fraternity by claiming that WWE has superior athletes compared to the NFL. Justin Jefferson hit back with his own take while speaking with Sports Illustrated.

The Minnesota Vikings’ wide receiver just finished a season with record-low numbers since entering the league as a first-rounder in 2020. JJ McCarthy struggled at the quarterback spot. Injuries and inconsistency made life hard for the second-year signal caller. With the help of veteran Carson Wentz, the Vikings finished 8-9, missing out on playoff qualification.

Jefferson is eyeing a turnaround in 2026. But before that, he took a massive dig at Logan Paul. Jefferson told SI:

Respectfully, I don’t think Logan Paul is that athletic [enough] to play football. I would 100% say football athletes are definitely way more athletic. We can do backflips as well.

Jefferson’s statement comes after Paul challenged NFL athletes to face him in a boxing or wrestling ring. The 30-year-old YouTuber-turned-WWE-star claimed he is a superior athlete to any football player. And to prove his point, Paul challenged two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett for a one-on-one duel. While Garrett stayed silent, a response came from retired NFL running back Le’Veon Bell. However, the brass at WWE blocked Paul from fighting Bell.

Justin Jefferson receives high praise from a former teammate

The Vikings have been very active in the free agency market with the NFL draft in Pittsburgh just around the corner. One of the biggest pieces of business the brass in Minnesota pulled off was turning down the chance to re-sign wide receiver Jalen Nailor.

After becoming a free agent, Nailor inked a three-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders valued at $35 million, including $23 million guaranteed and a $6 million signing bonus. At his inaugural press conference, the former Michigan State speedster praised ex-teammate Justin Jefferson. Nailor said:

He’s very confident, the way he runs his routes, things like that. I’ve tried to implement that into my game, try and do that even better.

Nailor made 55 appearances in his four-year spell for the Vikings, racking up 69 receptions for 1066 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns.

That said, the Vikings’ biggest splash has to be signing Kyler Murray to ease their quarterback situation. Football expert Skip Bayless suggested that the Vikings’ decision to add the Heisman Trophy winner and two-time Pro Bowler will prove to be a masterstroke.

It’s [signing Kyler Murray] going to change life in the National Football League. All of a sudden, Minnesota has Seattle potential next year because the Packers and Lions did not get better in free agency, and obviously [Parsons] is coming off the ACL and will have a slow start to next year.

Murray, the former first overall draft pick, spent seven years with the Arizona Cardinals, racking up 67.1% pass completion rate, 153 total touchdowns, and 60 interceptions. With Murray on the team, Jefferson can once again set his sights on breaking his 1,809-yard record, which he achieved in 2022 when he was honored with the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award.
