Justin Thomas has a great opinion of Tony Romo's golfing skills, but his appreciation for Stephen Curry as a golfer is even higher.

Golfing is a pastime that has had a grip on many athletes as a leisure off-court activity. Michael Jordan famously used to golf as an obsession with the likes of Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing and others. In recent years, the likes of Stephen Curry, Patrick Mahomes and more have also embraced the sport as amateur players.
Stephen Curry, in particular, has been marked out as one of the best amateur golfers emerging from a sporting background. The four-time NBA champion has frequently played in pro-am events and impressed pro golfers with his precision and his skills. Curry has a golf handicap of scratch and routinely plays celebrity events during the offseason as well.
Golfer Justin Thomas, who finished 36th at the Augusta Masters last weekend, was recently asked about some amateur golfers whom he rates. Thomas spoke glowingly about former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and former tennis star Mardy Fish. But he placed Curry on a different pedestal altogether to these amateurs.
I still think when Steph is done playing and he can play more golf – I’ve played with him a couple of times. He just did things and hit those shots where you were like ‘You’re a freak talent.’ Just crazy good hands around the greens and the little subtle adjustments and man, I think if he was able to put more time into it, I think he’d be probably the best consistent amateur.

According to a PGA Tour deep dive into Curry’s golfing skills, he had a handicap of +1.3 two years ago. While he’s clearly no pro at the sport, Curry can be looked at as one of the best ambassadors for golf. His enthusiasm for the sport and his willingness to promote various events on the pro tour make him a really great tieup for the PGA Tour.
Caitlin Clark narrated a fascinating Stephen Curry golfing story
WNBA sensation Caitlin Clark was recently hosted on a podcast by the Augusta Masters. The acclaimed hooper was one of the celebrities who enthusiastically attended the event this year and got to watch Rory McIlroy become the sixth golfer ever to complete a career Grand Slam in a playoff win.
The 23-year-old described how Curry took his mind off a playoff disappointment with a long golfing session.
I think one of my favorite stories is about Steph Curry. I forget if it was the playoffs or the finals, but they had just lost, and he didn’t play very well. The next day, they had off. He didn’t want to go to the gym — he wanted to go to the golf course and just hit balls. Then the day after that, he came out and dropped like 45 points and shot really well. I think it just shows how calming and centering it can be for professional athletes.
Caitlin Clark on Stephen Curry capitalizing on his golfing obsession
Clark herself believes golfing is a great avenue for pro sportspeople to take their mind off the grind. According to her, just being on the green without many people present is a mind-freshener. Just having the ability to go out and have some fun golfing sessions with close friends is undoubtedly a great source of relief for superstars like her, who are bombarded with media attention, whatever they do and wherever they go.
Curry will undoubtedly stay associated with the sport for the rest of his life. We can expect the Warriors legend to turn up to sporting events with Jordan, Klay Thompson and Pat Mahomes in tow soon after his retirement.
