Amidst the struggling season of kicker Justin Tucker, fans appear to think the growing age has finally caught up to him. His Week 11 inefficiency added to his seventh-worst field goal percentage (79%) in the league, which attracted quite harsh reactions from the fans.
For a kicker renowned as the most accurate kicker (89.7%) in the history of the NFL, the 2024 season has proven to be challenging for him, both physically and mentally. Tucker missed two long field goals in the opening quarter of Sunday’s game against divisional rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers– whose kicker Chris Boswell gave a standout performance with six field goals.
Meanwhile, after this game, Tucker’s total misses this season have turned up more than all of his last seasons combined. Although he tried to redeem himself in the third quarter with a 54-yard attempt, it ended up being inadequate in front of Boswell’s impressive showing.
I’m still confident I’m going to go out there and nail every single kick. Part of the way we stay confident is by continuing to work and trust the process. I might sound like a broken record, but it’s a part of what brings us success — is just trusting the process and then taking it one kick at a time.
Justin Tucker said in the post-game press conference (H/T: Ravens’ official website)

This isn’t the first time the star kicker has missed an alarming number of field goals as back in 2022, he missed six field goals, yet managed to lead the league with 37 field goals made and earn a Pro Bowl selection.
Fan reaction to Justin Tucker missing crucial field goals against Steelers
The game concluded at 18-16 in favor of the Steelers, who occupied the top rank in the AFC North. Given the narrow score, if Tucker had succeeded with those two field goals in the first quarter, the Ravens might have held the top spot in the division. That’s why fans did not spare the seven-time Pro Bowler for compromising a crucial game, suggesting him to consider retirement.

One fan wrote, “Time to retire old man” to the 34-year-old, while another wrote, “Never thought I’d see the day that Justin Tucker is washed.” Here are some of the fan reactions:

The future Pro Hall of Famer has converted 16 of 22 field goals this season, resulting in a career-low accuracy of 71.4%. Tucker’s career-high in field goals was achieved in the 2015 season when he recorded 33 of 40.
