After winning the 2024 World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers have made a huge statement in the offseason and strengthened their squad even further. Their offseason moves have led to a huge backlash across social media. Justin Verlander‘s brother has now gone into the defense of the Dodgers and dropped a bold comparison with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Just like the Dodgers, there seems to be no stopping the Chiefs at the moment. The reigning Super Bowl champions took on the Josh Allen-led Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game on Sunday. The Chiefs avenged their regular season loss as they won 32-29 and advanced to the Super Bowl again.
Ben Verlander, brother of Justin Verlander, took to his X account and compared the two sports franchises and their leagues having a salary cap. Unlike the MLB, the NFL does have a salary cap. For the 2024 season, the NFL has a salary cap set around $255.4 million.
In his tweet, he defended the Dodgers and pointed out how the fans “cry” for a salary cap and still go on to watch the Chiefs reach another Super Bowl.
People will really complain about the Dodgers signing everyone and cry for a Salary Cap while watching the Chiefs go to the Super Bowl every year.

With a salary cap.
In the offseason, the Dodgers have roped in Blake Snell, Michael Conforto, Hyeseong Kim, Tanner Scott, Roki Sasaki, and Kirby Yates. Apart from that, they brought back Blake Treinen and Teoscar Hernandez from the free agency. On top of this, they extended the contract of Tommy Edman.
Ben Verlander reflects on Astros potentially re-signing Alex Bregman
One of the big talking points in MLB in recent days has been the future of Alex Bregman. The third baseman is still a free agent after he declined the 6-year $156 million deal from the Houston Astros in December. The Detroit Tigers have been one of the teams who have been linked with him. Ben Verlander, who played for the Tigers, believes that the door is now wide open for Bregman to return to the Astros.
In the past few days, the Astros have emerged as favorites to re-sign Bregman. On Sunday, the team traded away pitcher Ryan Pressly, which further speculated this talks.
Taking to X, Verlander also claimed that the Astros will win the World Series if they are successful in re-signing Bregman and bringing him back to Houston.
NOW the door is wide open for Alex Bregman to return back to Houston.

Can’t help but feel like the Tigers sat back too long and have allowed this to happen.
If they don’t get Breggy it’s a failure of an offseason. If the Astros do, they win the World Series.

After Bregman declined the offer in December, the Astros signed Christian Walker on a $40 million deal. They also brought in Isaac Paredes from the Cubs in trade for Kyle Tucker. If they do end up reuniting with Bregman, Jose Altuve could move to left field to allow him to play on the second base.
