If Jusuf Nurkic stays with the Utah Jazz when the 2025-26 season starts, the Bosnian center would have played on three different teams in the calendar year. Now, he is busy leading his nation at EuroBasket 2025, where he is about to face Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece.
The latter has won all three of its opening group games and leads Group C by a decent margin. All that can change if they lose focus in their final two games.
Both their next opponents, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Spain, are in the knockout seedings, but would like to gain a place or two to improve their chances in the first stages of the round of 16.
The Greeks are following the lead of their most important superstar, as Antetokounmpo currently has a foot in the MVP race. On the other hand, Nurkic is BIH’s best offensive and defensive option. The latter, though, has an idea on how to stop the Greek Freak.
At the end of the day we just have to stop him on transition and live with his shots. Generally he s**k on those defense in the last few years, in the EuroBasket.
Jusuf Nurkic told Sport 24
Jusuf Nurkic on Giannis Antetokounmpo: "He definitely play five more than four. He will have to defend too. At the end of the day we just have to stop him on transition and live with his shots. The 31-year-old center believes the contrasting styles of the NBA and FIBA are what will help Bosnia and Herzegovina get a leg up on Greece. He believes Giannis Antetokounmpo does not have the shooters around him as he has with the Milwaukee Bucks to succeed in EuroBasket.
Fans troll Jusuf Nurkic’s idea to stop Giannis Antetokounmpo
Basketball fans have witnessed how Giannis Antetokounmpo can be borderline unstoppable when he is motivated. After their Paris Olympics disappointment, the two-time league MVP was in tears.
That should give anyone going against Greece an idea of how motivated their most important superstar will be. On top of that, fans were in splits considering this idea on how to stop the Greek Freak came from Jusuf Nurkic of all people.
The center has been relegated to being a backup center in the NBA and has not had his moments defensively. Fans believe that for him to say all this was delusional. Check out examples of those reactions below:
Nurkic talks more than playing tbh

Jusuf Nurkic hasn’t been relevant since he played for Portland.. since then he’s been the tenth man coming off the bench. Enjoy your time in Utah lmao

These words might be just ways to try and unsettle the Bucks star ahead of their clash. However, fans think this game will be a reminder for the Bosnian of how good the 2021 NBA champion is.
There is a reason he was once thought of as a possible Face of the NBA. Antetokounmpo and his countrymen are gunning for glory, whereas Bosnia and Herzegovina are battling for survival.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece 2 wins away from easy 1st round tie
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece won their first three games against Italy, Cyprus, and Georgia with ease. They should have a not-so-difficult battle against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Their final game will be against the 2021 EuroBasket champions, Spain. Most of their players from that winning campaign have returned for this edition. Therefore, that game cannot be taken lightly.
If they are to have an easy first-round matchup, Greece will need to win both its remaining games. A loss to either or both could see them tumble down Group C.
The former NBA Defensive Player of the Year wants to add national team glory to his legacy, and this EuroBasket 2025 represents a good opportunity for him to establish himself as one of the better European players currently in the world.
