Pro Kabaddi League

Ahead of the auction for the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2021, the franchises have announced the players they have retained for the upcoming season. The 12 teams have retained a total of 59 players going into the eighth season. The PKL 2021 auction is set to take place in Mumbai on August 29, 30 and 31 with around 500 players going under the hammer.

A maximum of 12 players were allowed to be retained by each team, including a maximum of six Elite Retained Players and six Retained Young Players, comprising those selected in the team through the New Young Player programme. From the Elite retained players, 22 made the cut while six are from the retained Young Players and 31 from Existing new Young Players made were retained.

Jaipur Pink Panthers have retained the highest number of players (7) while Tamil Thalaivas have the least (3). U Mumbai have the most under the Elite Retained Players (4). Mohammed Esmaeil Nabibakhsh (Bengal Warriors), Fazel Atrachali (U Mumba) and Hadi Tajik (Puneri Paltan) are the only three overseas players who have been retained.
