Football fans may no longer see Kadarius Toney on a football field. It seems, Toney has decided to pause his NFL career to become a rapper named ‘Yung Joka.’

The former first-round pick is currently a free agent, but as per reports, he hasn’t had many offers from teams. So Toney opted to give his passion for music a spin.

Earlier this week, Toney shared a rap video titled ‘RR,’ announcing himself on the music scene.

Toney entered the NFL with the New York Giants. Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen passed on Nico Collins (Houston Texans) and Amon-Ra St. Brown (Detroit Lions) to select the former Florida Gators wideout.

He only lasted for 12 games due to recurring injuries. The Giants traded him to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he won multiple Super Bowls.

Despite winning back-to-back rings, the writing was on the wall as to why the Giants parted ways with Toney. He began dropping crucial passes, which cost the Chiefs a couple of games. The Chiefs declined the fifth-year option on Toney’s contract, making him a free agent after the 2024 season.

Toney signed for the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad. He was active for the Browns’ week 14 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. A muffed punt and a heated exchange were enough for the Browns to cut him from the team.

Kadarius Toney is angry at social media for spreading false information about his retirement

Toney may have zero offers on the table, but that doesn’t mean he has retired from football. Football still holds a big place in his heart.

Toney shared his thoughts on social media regarding his retirement rumors.

Goofies on the net hollerin I’m retiring… Just want klout. Ain’t speakin on the [poop emoji] nomo.

Toney found himself in the clutches of the law after his pregnant girlfriend accused the 26-year-old of strangulation. On January 14, the cops arrested Toney from Douglasville, Georgia.

The police found red marks on the pregnant girl’s neck. Further Investigation into the story revealed that Toney choked her enough to cause her breathing problems. Fortunately, the incident didn’t harm the baby.

An arrest warrant was issued against Kadarius Toney. His bond was set at $25,000 each for two charges. Toney hasn’t spoken about the incident in public forums.

Kadarius appeared in a total of 33 games, starting 10. He caught a total of 82 passes for 760 yards and scored 3 touchdowns in four seasons.

Toney spent four seasons with the Gators. He appeared in 38 games, catching 120 passes for 1590 yards, averaging 13.3 yards per catch for 12 touchdowns. Toney also rushed 66 times for 580 yards and scored 8 rushing touchdowns.

Who else recently pivoted from football to music?

Toney isn’t the only NFL player to try their luck rubbing shoulders with the likes of Taylor Swift and Lil Wayne. It is the former Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller.

Waller, on April 10, released a single named ‘Top Play,’ a fast-paced, hard-hitting rap tune that he teased back in January.

Unlike Toney, who is still a fledgling in the world of music, Waller has been making music since 2015. Some of his renditions even found their way into EA’s football game, Madden 25.

It’s no surprise that Waller has a knack for creating melody because music runs through his veins. Waller is the great-grandson of jazz pianist Fats Waller.

The first Waller music video to go viral was ‘Who Knew (Her Perspective).’ It’s a song the 32-year-old created after splitting with his wife, the Las Vegas Aces (WNBA) point guard Kelsey Plum.
