However, the defending champions have a game in hand. This difficult situation has forced Arsenal fans to make a difficult decision – to support Tottenham on Tuesday!

Mikel Arteta‘s men pulled off an important win against Manchester United in their penultimate game of the season.

Arsenal fend off ‘desperate’ Man United to claim crucial 3 points

Both Arsenal and Manchester United were desperately in need of a win at Old Trafford on Sunday night. The Gunners needed the win to remain in contention for the title while United wanted to avoid a record 14th loss in the League. Prior to the game, United were clearly the underdogs in the tie given their unfortunate injury record and their embarrassing 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace.

Injuries and absentees forced Erik ten Hag to play Casemiro at centre-back which, according to many, backfired. Arsenal scored an early goal courtesy of Leandro Trossard.

Kai Havertz who played in the crucial pass was deemed offside by many. However, a VAR check revealed that an out-of-position Casemiro played him onside.

The early setback proved to be too much for the hosts as they struggled to create chances throughout the match. One of the clearest opportunities fell at the feet of Rasmus Hojlund, who slipped while making the shot at the crucial moment.

The game ended 1-0 to Arsenal and while United lost a record 14th game for the first time in their history, Arsenal still have a shot at the League title.
