It was one way traffic as Arsenal took on Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium. League leaders Arsenal gunned down their opponents in supreme fashion as Mauricio Pochettino and co. suffered one of their most embarrassing defeats of the season. 5-0 read the scoreboard as both Kai Havertz and Ben White bagged braces against the Blues.
While the scoreline was enough to begin conversation, fans were truly surprised by Kai Havertz‘s ‘ruthless’ celebration against his former side. The German forward played a crucial role in Chelsea’s Champions League triumph back in 2021. However, past allegiances did not stop him from putting on a show at the Emirates.
While it is customary of players to not celebrate against their former side, Havertz, following in the footsteps of Ousmane Dembele himself, cupped his ears and stuck out his tongue as he celebrated with the crowd.
Both his goals came in the second half, leaving fans truly speechless as a former Chelsea man ruthlessly dismantled his former side, just ten months after his transfer!
Fans react to Kai Havertz’s celebration against his former side
Football X didn’t need much time before Kai Havertz’s celebration kicked off a slew of trolls and memes. A fan commented that Havertz did not rate Chelsea one bit, hence the celebration. Another pointed out how Havertz hadn’t been able to score against Arsenal once during his four years at Chelsea. However, in just ten months, his two goals against Chelsea made him a true Gunner.
However, a fan said that media is biased and had Antony done the same, he would’ve received a lot of hate. Many called Havertz shameless and ungrateful for his actions. Certain Chelsea supporters however, felt shameful of their team’s performance and said that it was only fitting that Havertz celebrated.
Havertz’s second goal forced even more hilarious reactions, with one fan calling to ‘sell’ or ‘delete’ the club. A fan showed how Chelsea’s official X page didn’t mention Havertz by name when he scored on both occasions. A fan laughed at how ‘pained’ Chelsea were because of Havertz’s goals and celebration. As it stands, Arsenal are three points clear at the top of the League.
