Arsenal star Kai Havertz was at the center of praise, after scoring in Germany’s impressive victory over Denmark in the Euro 2024 round of 16. Fans lauded the 25-year-old for his outstanding statistics in the tournament.
The host nation became the second team, after Switzerland to make it through to the quarter-finals after a 2-0 win over the Danes. Goals from Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala in the second half powered the Germans to a win, in a match that was affected by a thunderstorm. The Arsenal man, starting in attack as chosen by manager Julian Nagelsmann, converted a penalty in the 53rd minute after Danish defender Joachim Andersen handled the ball inside the box.
The 25-year-old played for the entire 90 minutes against Denmark. In addition to scoring a penalty, he made five significant attempts and engaged in three aerial duels. His performances in the group stage matches against Switzerland, Scotland, and Hungary were similarly impressive, earning him applause and a standing ovation from fans. Havertz leads in shots on target, touches in the opposition box, and expected goals (xG) among all German players this summer.

Nevertheless, Havertz has turned the tide around over the last year. After a rather disappointing outing during his time at Chelsea in 2022/23, the German has stepped up to the plate for Arsenal as well as for his country.
