Kai Havertz finds some relief after long awaited goal
Kai Havertz has had a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge. He has shown glimpses of his potential in the win against Palace . A major factor in this good performance could be him operating in the ‘false nine’ role.
The Germany international spoke about playing in the position to Sky Sports after the game and it was clear to see that he thoroughly relished the chance.
“Of course, in my position, you always want to score. In the last few months, it was not easy and I didn’t have many chances. Today, I got some chances, I think I can score one or two more but of course I’m happy and we’re happy with the result.
“I think in the second-half, I had one or two more chances where I could have scored more goals, but it wasn’t to be and on Tuesday, we move on.
“I think it’s always easy to play with players that have the quality and I know about it every day in training.
With both Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham out with bad form , Kai Havertz could well have the chance to seal the top spot. Tuchel has made it clear that the number nine position is up for grabs and Havertz can fill in.
