WWE is known for iconic returns. In the past, many stars have hung up their boots and have still come back from retirement. Stars such as Edge, Daniel Bryan, Carlito, etc. Now, another name has talked about a return to WWE after six years of absence.
The star in the spotlight is Kaitlyn. Speaking with Developmentally Speaking, she talked about the possibility of returning to professional wrestling for one more run. The 37-year-old said she is in good shape right now. The former Divas Champion also revealed WWE called her up for an appearance at Royal Rumble once but she didn’t do much at the show. However, the 37-year-old never ruled out the possibility of returning.
I think it would be cool to do something at some point. I'm in the best shape ever physically now. I actually went not last year but the year before [to the Royal Rumble], I think. WWE called me to come out. I ended up not doing anything on the show, but I'm open to it.Kaitlyn via Developmentally Speaking
The 37-year-old had a meteoric rise in WWE. She participated in the third season of NXT. Kaitlyn even captured the Divas Championship in her tenure in the company. However, in the year 2014, she parted ways with the Stamford-based promotion.
Moreover, with the tone of the interview, it can be said that she has an interest in a comeback. However, it all depends on the enticing offer of WWE. Besides, Kaitlyn returned to the professional scene in 2017, where she captured the Slam Force Africa Women’s Championship. She even returned to WWE in 2018, where she wrestled in two matches in the Mae Young Classic tournament.
Kaitlyn talked about why she left WWE
There was a time when Kaitlyn had a meteoric rise in WWE. She captured the Divas Championship and was clearly one of the top stars at the time in the women’s division. However, in 2014, she abruptly left WWE with no explanation. The 38-year-old star went on to ask for her release by WWE unceremoniously before a live show in Philadelphia.
Speaking with The Sessions with Renee Paquette, the former Divas Champion spoke about the reason for her leaving the company. She revealed that she was suffering from a mental illness. The aforementioned star added that she felt like she was becoming less and less relevant. The former Divas Champion also divulged that she was gaining weight, which led to her having self-doubt.
I felt, like, less and less relevant. I had so much, like, shame. I had gained all this weight and my body was giving me every signal that I was not OK – like, emotionally; like, mentally. I had just so much hatred for myself.Kaitlyn via The Sessions
Furthermore, Kaitlyn admitted that now, when she looks back, she doesn’t feel right about the way she left WWE. The lady went on to pursue her career in fitness modeling thereafter. If Kaitlyn actually ends up returning to WWE, it would open the door for many dream matches with the current roster.
