Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards is finally making his comeback inside the Octagon after being inactive for almost one and half years against Belal Muhammad this UFC Fight Night.
Before this fight he fought against Rafael Dos Anjos in July 2019 and he is riding an 8 fight win streak in the Welterweight division. With this win he is looking forward to one more shot against Kamaru Usman and Dana White is granting him the wish.
In his latest with BT Sport talking about the chances of Edwards facing Usman next, White says, “100 percent Leon Edwards is next for Kamaru Usman if he wins against Belal Muhammad,”
Both of them faced each other earlier back in 2015 at UFC on Fox: Dos Anjos vs Cerrone 2, where Usman won the fight by unanimous decision of the judges. Since that loss, Edwards won 8 consecutive fights.
Currently, Edwards is ranked number 3 in the division and with a win against Muhammad, he will look forward to challenging him once again for the UFC Welterweight title.
Dana White also talked about Covington vs Edwards fight
After the fight with Khamzat Chimaev was scrapped for the third time, Leon Edwards called out number 1 ranked Welterweight fighter Colby Covington to face him next. But this fight never got official.
White says talking about this, “I don’t remember what the Colby Covington situation was, but we’ll get Colby a fight here soon, Right now, I don’t know who’s next for him. We’ll see how some of this stuff plays out, but we’ll get him figured out.”
He also added, “Usman was telling me that he doesn’t like the fact that Masvidal has an excuse, So he said, ‘I want to make it so this guy has a great camp and then there are no excuses.’”
