Super Bowl LIX saw Patrick Mahomes have one of the worst performances of his career. That abomination in the first half pegged his Kansas City Chiefs back as the Philadelphia Eagles romped away to win their second every Lombardi Trophy.

In the first half, the superstar quarterback threw two interceptions and could not lead his team past the half-way mark. The Eagles’ defense made life difficult for him all throughout the game, and he looked flustered.

All of this happened after all season long, many were sure he is the best when it comes to the big game. His most vocal supporter, FS1’s Nick Wright was subjected to a lot of trolling on his show First Things First. Now, while on The Dan Le Batard Show, the host asked if the QB had choked, to which Wright had to swallow a lump.

Patrick playing his worst game in a couple of years is what led it to be a blowout. I think the moment got to the entire team.

Host Dan Le Batard understood that even if Nick Wright was trying to avoid flat out saying that Patrick Mahomes choked, he invariably said that his favorite quarterback struggled in the biggest stage. Wright tried to wriggle out of it, but he struggled to clarify his stance.

Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs were luck in 15-2 season

Nick Wright might not want to openly admit that his Kansas City Chiefs choked, but he knows all too well that had Patrick Mahomes played better, his team could have had a chance. Then co-host of the show Anthony Calatayud said this.

Kansas City Chiefs' one-score wins glossed over their deficiencies

They were 12-0 in one-score games this year. That easily could have been a team that went 5-12. We are looking at a team that if things go the opposite way, this is a laughingstock of a team that doesn’t make the playoffs.

Anthony Calatayud said

Hearing this, Wright went defensive, but the rest of the cast of the show agreed with the logic. The Chiefs did win a lot of one-score games that could have gone the other way. Calatayud believes those wins glossed over the deficiencies of the team.

The three-time Super Bowl MVP was not at his usual self all season. Along with that, Travis Kelce looked slow, and the offense was not firing on all cylinders. The offensive line’s deficiencies were evident. But Super Bowl LIX showed how bad they were despite having three Pro-Bowlers on it.

Those missed holding calls finally caught up. Intense pressure from the Philadelphia Eagles’ front four saw the line disintegrating. Seeing that, the Chiefs QB was literally running for his life, and as a result that pressure forced those game-changing turnovers.
