Former Indian captain, Kapil Dev has showered praise on Rohit Sharma as the Team India skipper while taking a sly dig at Virat Kohli for his animated demeanor on the field. He has pointed out that Kohli’s actions on the ground are uncalled for.

Rohit Sharma‘s captaincy has been a pivotal point in Team India making it to the semi-finals. From taming India’s arch-rivals in a nail-biting encounter to getting the better of Australia in a run-fest, Sharma has been the apple of the eye of the Indian fans. Kapil Dev pointed out that it is the Hitman who has established a very happy mood in the dugout.

Rohit doesn't play like Virat, doesn't jump around, but he knows his limitations. And within those limitations, no one is better than him. Many great players come along, and they lead just for themselves. So Rohit has got one extra tick marked over them because he keeps the entire team happy.

He also pointed out that there are several other bigger players who have come and has just done captaincy for themselves. This is where Rohit shines for Kapil Dev. Time and time again, Virat Kohli has drawn flak for being too aggressive on the field and somehow things have worked for him so far.

A glimpse at how Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have fared in the 2024 T20 World Cup

This T20 World Cup has been a quite a tour for Rohit Sharma. Against Ireland, he racked up an unbeaten half-century while knocking 23 against Bangladesh before going all guns blazing against Australia.

For Virat Kohli, however, things have been downhill as the former Indian skipper has managed scores of 24 and 37 against Afghanistan and Bangladesh respectively. In the rest of the matches, he couldn’t trouble the bowlers.

However, the Indian bowling unit has been unstoppable with the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav drawing the strings, propelling India to an unbeaten run in the T20 World Cup so far.
