Nick Kyrgios has always found himself on the receiving end of criticism due to his controversial conduct as well as his comments on his fellow players, both former and current. When Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek failed the doping test, he was quite vocal about the whole thing, even though the anti-doping agencies made it clear that both of them were victims of accidental contamination.

And now, he has found himself in the same situation. Earlier this month, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced that he failed a drug test, as he consumed a substance that had a metabolite of the banned drug cocaine.

Simona Halep, whom Kyrgios targeted when she was dealing with her doping scandal, seized this opportunity to hit back, writing, “Never kick someone when they’re down” on her Instagram story without naming anyone. And now Russian ace Karen Khachanov weighed in on the scandal, making it clear that he doesn’t feel sorry for him.

He always loved to () on people even when he wasn’t playing, constantly those tweets or whatever. And now that it’s come back to haunt him, what is there to say? You reap what you sow. So, to be honest, it’s not that I’m not surprised, I don’t really feel sorry for him. This is the logical development of the situation. What he got caught doing was his own choice. Not to mention the fact that last year, he was tweeting about Sinner or someone else that he doesn’t play doubles with people who dope. What goes around comes around.

Karen Khachanov said during his interview with First&Red

Kyrgios has been provisionally suspended since August 4. He has so far played four singles matches this season and was last seen in action at Wimbledon, where he and doubles partner Alexander Bublik lost in the first round.

Khachanov, on the other hand, will be seen in action on Monday (August 31) in the ongoing US Open. He will square off against Roman Andres Burruchaga in the first round.

The 30-year-old hasn’t reached a final this season, and in fact last reached this stage at the 2025 Canadian Open. Khachanov last won a title at the 2025 Almaty Open. He has played Kyrgios four times and holds a head-to-head lead of 3-1.

Karen Khachanov on Alexander Zverev’s Roland Garros and Wimbledon campaigns

During that aforementioned interview on First&Red, Karen Khachanov talked about Alexander Zverev‘s French Open and Wimbledon runs. Sascha reached his career’s fourth Grand Slam final in the clay-court Major and finally ended his title drought after overcoming Flavio Cobolli.

Next at Wimbledon, Zverev, who had never made it to the quarterfinals before this season, progressed to the final but couldn’t beat defending champion Jannik Sinner.

He is a great beauty, won his first Roland Garros, and immediately played in the Wimbledon final. Oh, and by the way, this was also the first time in his career. That is, he walked so far on the grass.

Karen Khachanov said

Zverev will kick off his US Open campaign against Lorenzo Sonego. He has already played the final of the New York Slam. It was here back in 2020 that Zverev reached his career’s first Grand Slam final but lost the title to Dominic Thiem.

Carlos Alcaraz is competing as the defending champion. The seven-time Grand Slam champion, who defeated Sinner in the final last year, will face Roman Safiullin in what will also be his first match since the first round of the Barcelona Open. Four-time US Open champion Novak Djokovic suffered a five-set defeat to Mariano Navone in the first round.
