Karl-Anthony Towns responds to Tyreek Hill’s arrest
The sporting world was left in shock as news of the incident between the Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and some officers of the Miami Dade Police Department. The incident occurred before the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars near the Hard Rock Stadium.
As a result of the public outcry, the body cam footage was then released by the police authorities which then led Minnesota Timberwolves star center and Social Justice advocate, Karl-Anthony Towns to lend his voice to the matter. His response was in the form of a statement posted on his account on social media platform, X where he labeled the incident disgusting as well as disturbing.
That @cheetah police video is not only disturbing, but disgusting. Like he said, what would’ve happen if he wasn’t who he is?Karl-Anthony Towns wrote on X
The incident had led to a large outcry on social media, with the reactions from fans saying just how scary the incident was. Tyreek Hill spoke on the matter and narrated how he felt, leaving many wondering what could have happened if it hadn’t been Hill but another person.
The issue got more complicated when Hill’s teammate Calais Campbell witnessed the event, stopped, tried to calm the situation, and got himself arrested. However, both players were released and they played a part as the Dolphins ended the day with a 20-17 victory.
Steven A. Smith was also appalled by the Miami-Dade Police Department’s treatment of Hill. He asserted that he won’t let this incident go away. As such, his X feed was full of consternation regarding the incident.
Orlando Magic Jonathan Isaac blames Tyreek Hill for the incident’s escalation
While the public court of opinion has the Miami Dade Police in their crosshairs, one person has chosen to see the incident from another point of view. Orlando Magic’s forward Jonathan Isaac has criticized Hill for the way he handled the issue which has been trending since it happened.
All love to Hill, thank God the situation ended peacefully… but this should be shown to every black boy on how not to act when being pulled over, respectfully. It’s immature as black men to put our lives in the hands of officers in this way!Jonathan Isaac wrote on X
As reported, one of the officers involved in the incident has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigations. Also, a statement was issued by the force union, supporting how the incident occurred citing that protocols were followed as he was uncooperative.
