With only four days into Wimbledon, there have already been some upsets that have been caused, but not of a British superstar. It was the Brit No.1 Katie Boulter who had to exit the tennis court after being beaten by compatriot Harriet Dart in the second round of Wimbledon.
Boulter seemed like she was on a roll before the upset. After cruising past the last round, the Briton was a strong contender to have a deep run in the tournament. Unfortunately, Dart brought her A-game against her friend and fought hard from a set down to force a magnificent third set.
The final set was the highlight of the whole game, as both players managed to bring the spectators to the edge of their seats. Both the players fought hard to save their service, but in the end, it was meant to be decided in the tie-break, which went on till 10 points, as Dart secured the last two points.
Although the tennis fans were happy with this win from a Brit, they were unhappy with Boulter’s performance in the match as she made many unforced errors. “Far too many unforced errors from Katie,” commented one user on X.
Moreover, it was an unreal effort from Dart, who was down 6-2 in the tie-break and was on the verge of losing the match. However, she hung in the match and eventually won it.

Fans react to Katie Boulter’s unforced errors in her second-round match at SW19
The fans online were rather unhappy with Katie Boulter’s performance in her second-round match against compatriot Harriet Dart. Even though Boulter had a major lead in the match, she made far too many unforced errors, including nine double faults.
These errors majorly contributed to her loss at SW19. Nonetheless, it was a huge victory for Dart, who advanced to the third round of Wimbledon. This was the Brit’s first Wimbledon round-three appearance since 2019 and a second slam round-three.
Let’s take a look at some of the comments from the fans online.
Too many unforced errors from Katie today but great credit to Harriet for coming through!

Katie give that away , gave away far too many free points missing the baseline, didnt like the crying from Dart at the end, think it put Katie off , a bit unprofessional

Far too many unforced errors from Katie. I get that she wants to play aggressively, but sometimes patience is a virtue. I mean, you’re playing tennis, not freaking baseball. ?♂️

I most definitely wouldn’t call it thrilling, was littered with errors (maybe due to the tension) but it was certainly an intriguing watch nonetheless.

Sooo many unforced errors from Katie today. The sobbing and water bottle tantrums from Dart wouldn’t have helped her keep her focus either. Neither of them a shining example of British tennis today……

The tournament is already successful for the Brit, who would now hope to get closer to winning that title. Although the journey ahead is tough, Harriet Dart will have to start by taking down Xinyu Wang in the next round.
